The history and culture of Guihe Town

Guaihe has a long history and rich culture. During the Western Zhou Dynasty, Guaihe belonged to the territory of the state of Zeng, and the silk industry began. In the Tang Dynasty, handicrafts and smelting industries emerged in Guahe River, leaving the lead mining and elixir refining sites in Baixiugou and Yinqian Cave. The poet Li Bai once visited the former residence of Gao Feng, a famous literati in the Han Dynasty, and left five poems about "Jinjinjiu". During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the silk weaving industry flourished here, and merchants from Shaanxi, Shanxi, Shandong, Henan and other places gathered here. Merchants from Shaanxi and Shanxi built guild halls, making it one of the four major market towns in Fangcheng County. In November 1934, the Long March of the 25th Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army passed through here; in November 1947, Guaihe was liberated, and the Lunan County Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Lunan County People's Government were established. The revolutionary martyrs are now located on the south bank of the Lihe River. The cemetery commemorates the soldiers who heroically sacrificed their lives for the liberation of Guaihe; in March 1949, the county was removed from the county and a town was established, under the jurisdiction of Fangcheng;
