Do you know the meaning and merits of burning incense in Buddhism?
Buddhism believes that through the practice of "body, mouth and heart", you can get a clean body and mind, and gain consciousness and wisdom. In other words, it is possible to become a Buddha by practicing the five virtues of "abstinence, determination, wisdom, liberation and liberation", so it is called "five-point incense". It is called "offering Buddha with reason" or "offering Buddha with heart fragrance". This is actually the origin of the "one-petal fragrance" that we often talk about now.
When Buddhist believers burn incense, they usually sing "Xiangzan", which is also the symbolic meaning of burning incense for the Buddha. Whispering Buddhist names in cigarettes also adds a sense of solemnity. It's said that the romantic teenager realized the Tao because he smelled the monk burning agarwood, and he got the certificate of Arhat grosvenor. Buddhism even thinks that there is a "fragrant Buddha country", where everything is made of "incense", which is like our voice.
2. Burn incense for the Buddha:
Xiang is called "Jianda" in Sanskrit. In ancient Indian legends, there is also a "sweet god", also called "fuck a woman". This incense god doesn't eat wine and meat, but only eats incense. For Xiang Shen, "Xiang" can enrich his pubic body. Because of its body fragrance, it is called "fragrance god". Later, it was introduced by Buddhism and became one of the "Eight Protections" of Buddhism.
It is said that when Sakyamuni lived in an isolated garden, a believer named "Fu China" built a sandalwood hall and prepared to invite Sakyamuni to give lectures. Fu Chi held a censer and burned incense in the direction of the lonely garden. Cigarettes floated to the lonely garden and lingered on Sakyamuni's head for a long time, forming a "cloud cover"
Among the offerings of Buddhism, there are offerings of incense and flowers. It is said that when Sakyamuni spoke, it was "as fragrant as sumeru"; At the same time, generally speaking, "incense" and "candle" are usually provided at the same time. Later, people called the communication caused by learning and believing in Buddhism "incense karma" and called the believers "pilgrims". Secular people also call the friendly intersection "the sense of fragrance".
3. Go fragrant:
The so-called "walking with incense" means walking with incense. There is a little story about this. It is said that a long time ago, a greedy man saved seven bottles of gold and dug a deep pit to bury it. Later, he fell ill and died, becoming a poisonous snake guarding gold. Years later, the poisonous snake got tired of raising it and begged a pedestrian to donate gold to the temple. The monks gave a lecture to thank him, so the poisonous snake rose to "heaven is good" This is the origin of "walking incense".
In our country, "walking incense" began with the master Dao An in Jin Dynasty. At first, this was the ceremony of Dao An's enthronement speech. The audience burned incense for him. At the same time, there are many sayings such as "burning incense, putting incense on it and lighting incense", all of which have the same meaning. Later, "walking incense" specifically refers to the practice of walking around with incense burners or guiding ritual tours during Buddhist fasting.
