Angola is a country in Africa. Located in southwest Africa.
History
The colonial rule of Portugal began in p>194. It became independent on November 11th, 1975. In the same year, civil war broke out between the People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) supported by the Soviet Union and the National Union for Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) supported by the South African government of the United States. As a result, MPLA won and took power. From then on, the Angolan government formed an alliance with the Soviet Union and implemented a one-party dictatorship.
In 199, the Angolan government decided to abandon the socialist line and introduce a multi-party system the following year. In May 1991, MPLA and UNITA signed a peace agreement with the intervention of Portugal. However, in the 1992 parliamentary election, civil war broke out again between MPLA and UNITA. With the intervention of the United Nations, peace was restored in November 1994, but unfortunately the civil war broke out again in 1998.
On April 4th, 22, the two sides signed a cease-fire agreement, and Savimbi, the head of UNITA, also died in February, 22, which officially ended the 27-year civil war.
