Why is flat tide called flat tide?
1. The origin of the place name "Pingchao"
Pingchao, known as Shanjiadian in ancient times, also known as Taocun, is called "Li San" because it is 30 miles away from Tongzhou City.
During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty (A.D. 1762), Emperor Qianlong took a boat to the south of the Yangtze River and it rained for several days. It began to clear up when he passed through Tongzhou. When Qianlong stood at the bow of the boat, he felt something and wrote a poem: "The waves are vast, the waves are turbid and clear, and the tides rise and fall." . Since then, the emperor has given the name "Pingchao". (Source: Tongzhou County Records)
Pingbei, Pingnan and Pingxi are all flat tides.
