Pengzhou is located in the center of Chengdu-Mianyang Economic Zone, the northwest regional cooperation center of Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Zone and the core area of Chengdu's half-hour economic circle. It is one of the four emerging medium-sized industrial cities planned and developed in Chengdu, and it is also an important part of the eco-tourism belt of Longmen Mountain Giant Panda National Forest Park.

Pengzhou has a complex terrain, high in the northwest, low in the southeast, long in the north and south, and narrow in the east and west. There are three kinds of landforms: mountains, hills and plains. It is mountainous in the north, hilly in the middle and alluvial plain in the south. The mountainous area accounts for 50% of the city's total area, the hills account for about 1 1%, and the plains account for about 39%. Pengzhou is rich in water resources. Pengzhou City is located in the north of subtropical humid climate zone in Sichuan Basin, with mild climate, abundant rainfall, four distinct seasons, long frost-free period and less sunshine, and the high temperature period is the same as the rainy period. Disastrous weather mainly includes drought, rainstorm, autumn rain, chilling injury, strong wind and hail.
