It is not advisable to build a house at the foot of a mountain cliff. What is the significance of this in Feng Shui?
Usually some people who live in mountainous areas will choose a suitable area to build their houses, but they will not choose to build their houses at the end of the mountain or on the cliff, otherwise it may cause certain dangers or disasters.
Housing facing the end of a mountain or the mouth of a valley is not only difficult to live in, but also prone to various diseases. The so-called "in front of the mountain" refers to the area under the slope where the mountain ends and is connected by steep slopes and flat ground.
The exit of the valley is the gentle part of the narrow valley between the two mountains that enters the flatland. If it is in a vast plain, there will be rivers flowing through it. People living in these two types of terrain are constantly at risk from floods and landslides.
The above terrain is called fan-shaped terrain in geography. Once the rapidly descending narrow valley stream enters the flatland, its flow rate suddenly slows down, and the sand and soil carried by the stream are deposited at the mouth of the valley. Especially during the flood season, a large amount of sand and soil caused by landslides flow down with the flood and accumulate at the exit of the valley, forming new land.
But if we look at the back side, the floods and landslides that created this fan-shaped land will come again at some unknown time, so the danger can never be eliminated. People who live in such areas will definitely be on tenterhooks whenever heavy rain comes. If it continues for a long time, it is difficult to guarantee that they will not get sick.
Safety is the original motivation for Chinese Feng Shui. A main thread running through Feng Shui theory is the idea of ecological safety and environmental selection. This idea has a long development process. In the Paleolithic Age, humans only instinctively chose safe living environments and were forced to find places to live where they could avoid natural disasters and have abundant food resources.
This is a subconscious environmental choice. The gradual transition from subconscious choice to conscious choice has gone through millions of years in the Paleolithic Age. In the Neolithic Age, people had accumulated some knowledge about choosing the environment. For example, they basically chose to live on platforms or terraces along rivers; or in terrain areas where rivers meander; or near mountains and rivers, leeward and sunny; Or on the mounds on the plains downstream of the river; or on the Gaofugang hills along the coast. At this time, most people's choices about the environment are conscious choices, and they have a certain degree of thinking about safe environment choices.
