In the case of five corpses in Telford Gardens, the murderer faked suicide. What was the result?

As the saying goes, feudal superstition kills people. This is really not alarmist at all. We have talked about this before in the "Phoenix Mountain Gym Murder Case". Today, let’s look at another murder caused by feudal superstition in Hong Kong.

At around 2 pm on July 22, 1998, a woman jumped to her death in Block T of Telford Gardens, Hong Kong. When the police arrived at the scene, they found that the deceased had left three suicide notes. What surprised the police was that the contents of the suicide note also related to a missing woman case a few days ago. So the police began to investigate further.

The investigation made progress quickly, but what happened was so unexpected that it shocked the whole of Hong Kong at the time. Soon, the police discovered the bodies of five women, including Xu Shunqin, at the home of a woman named Xu Shunqin in Telford Gardens.

The remaining four deceased were Xu Shunqin’s two friends Lin Chunli and Cai Xiuzhen, and the other two were Xu Shunqin’s two daughters, 17-year-old Li Yingxi and 15-year-old Li Yinghui.

At the crime scene, the police also found a note praying to God left by the deceased. According to autopsy, all five people died of poisoning by taking highly toxic sodium cyanide.

At first, when the police saw these items for praying to gods and the "suicide note" left by the deceased, they speculated that the death may have been caused by poisoning due to superstitious folk remedies for praying to gods, and it was a mass suicide.

But the suspicious aspects of the case quickly dispelled the police's idea. First: If the five deceased people made their own poison, why were no other traces or tools found at the crime scene, but only the part of the poison that a few people drank.

Second: It is also a suspicion that allowed the police to quickly identify the murderer, that is, "Feng Shui Master" Li Yuhui, who had interacted with several people, originally agreed to testify, but suddenly lost contact.

As a result, the police believe that Li Yuhui is suspected of major crimes. Since Li Yuhui is from Shantou, the Hong Kong police also applied for assistance from the mainland public security organs.

Subsequently, after the police searched the home of Li Yuhui's girlfriend Yin Li to no avail, on September 15 of that year, they arrested Li Yuhui and Yin Li at the home of Li Yuhui's friend Wang.

After the murderer was brought to justice, the truth of the case finally emerged.

It turns out that in June 1998, when Li Yuhui went to Shenzhen to "give life" to Cai Xiuzhen, Xu Shunqin, and Lin Chunli, he promised to go to Hong Kong to perform "longevity rituals" for the three people, and asked for Hong Kong dollars every year. 10,000 yuan in cash as an offering. After learning that the three people were rich, Li Yuhui, who returned to Shantou, started to think of making money and killing people.

At noon on July 21, Li Yuhui brought highly toxic sodium cyanide to Xu Shunqin’s home in Room 501, Block C, Dudford Gardens to set up an altar to pray. In the process, he tricked three people into writing a petition with world-weary and suicidal tendencies. strip. Then they mixed sodium cyanide and mineral water into "talisman water" and asked several people to go to the kitchen, toilet, restaurant and other places to take it.

Furthermore, because Xu Shunqin’s two daughters were also at home at the time, Li Yuhui also ordered Xu Shunqin to give Xu Shunqin’s daughters Li Yingxi and Li Yinghui a sip of “Fu Shui” each. Five people soon died from poisoning.

Then, Li Yuhui placed the petition written by the three deceased people in the living room, creating the illusion of mass suicide, robbed the three people of 1.2 million Hong Kong dollars, and fled back to Shantou overnight.

After returning to Shantou, Li Yuhui hid part of the money in his cousin Yao's home, and then together with his girlfriend Yin Li, he converted Hong Kong dollars into RMB and deposited them in multiple banks.

In April 1999, Li Yuhui, who used the guise of a "feng shui master" to seek wealth and murder, was executed, and the five-corpse case that shocked Hong Kong was finally settled.

It’s not just talk that superstition harms people. Because of superstition, some people who use the guise of gods and ghosts to cheat, seek wealth and harm people have an opportunity to take advantage of it. Although good and evil will be rewarded in the end. , but the best way is not to let tragedy happen.
