I want to ride a bicycle from Zhengzhou to Luoyang Geely District during the Spring Festival. I hope that experts can give guidance on the cycling route and rest places along the way.

Reprinted an article, it is well written, based on my long-distance riding experience , the red words behind each item are my personal suggestions!
1. Equipment
1. Tent (there is no need for a tent on the route from Guangzhou to Yunnan, so detailed plans must be made for the daily mileage and food and accommodation locations. This is also a long-distance ride. This is a very important item when traveling) It is one of the must-have items for long-distance travel, if you choose a busy national highway. No need to think about it. It is recommended that you stay in a hotel if you can. For general travel, you can choose a double-decker one, and there is no need to pursue top-level configurations. But ventilation and waterproofing are important.
2. Sleeping bag (not required) This is a must. Considering comfort and hygiene. It is recommended that everyone prepare one, it doesn’t have to be too good. Generally three-season ones are good. In cold weather, it is recommended to bring a fleece sleeping bag and use it together. You will find that 1+1 is greater than 2.
3. Moisture-proof pad (not required) Can you sleep comfortably? Let’s take a look at this next thing. Bring them all. This isn't too heavy either. Just choose sponge type. It will be very troublesome if it gets damaged while inflating. You also need to bring the corresponding leak repair tools. You won't feel uncomfortable even if you sleep on the ground.
5. A pannier bag (a pannier bag is a must. I recommend using Dote’s three-in-one backpack. The top bag can be removed and used as a backpack. It is convenient, practical and of good quality). Professional bicycle pannier bag It can provide stable and strong load-bearing, and the design is also reasonable. The quality of the panniers cannot be ignored. It would be a shame to have something come out of nowhere. What must be considered is that the fabric of the pannier bag is not waterproof enough and must be equipped with a rain cover.
6. Car head bag (a car head bag is optional, I usually bring a small waist bag to hold the camera, which is convenient for taking pictures) This item can be optional, and can hold maps, cameras, and commonly used small items. good. It is required to have a reinforced design and impact resistance, but the volume should not be too large
7. Waterproof bag (this is very simple, we usually use plastic bags to do it) This is more important and is generally available in outdoor stores. Sales. If you're handy or don't mind the trouble, you can modify it yourself, and it's not difficult at all. Because documents, credit cards, and important items must be waterproofed.
8. Simple travel backpack (the three-in-one backpack suggested above will solve this problem. Don’t put extra weight on your back, your butt will not be able to bear it. , especially when climbing) This is optional. You don't carry your pannier bag everywhere, do you? That's the truth.
9. Rope (put a piece of rubber strap on, just in case)
An essential thing. 5 meters is enough. Generally, nylon rope is sufficient. It is used many times: for traction, reinforcement, and rescue. I bring it with me every time I travel, and check carefully whether it is firm and sturdy.
2. Sundries
1. Knives (not necessary)
It is not recommended to carry controlled knives, but a small knife is necessary. It's best to have something like a Swiss Army Knife, which will bring great convenience during the journey. I once took the "Jungle King" on a trip and found it convenient, but it was too heavy and impractical.
2. Lighter (unless you smoke, there is no need to bring it)
You must bring it even if you don’t smoke. There's nothing much to say about this thing. Anyway, just don't set it on fire. It's best to bring some matches. Sometimes lighters may cause problems, but the original method is still safe.
3. Flashlight (this is necessary, sometimes it may be used for driving at night or for lighting at night). It is a very practical thing. Generally, it does not take much to bring two, or a car headlight can also be used. Pay attention to replenishing the battery, LED is more suitable, saves power, and has a good lighting range. Can be used for lighting or life-saving purposes.
4. Sewing kit (whoever wants to do needlework on the road will not need it)
Small things, big effect. Before traveling, find someone to learn how to sew. It is better to seek help from others than from yourself.
5. Plastic bags (you can put them on your feet when it rains, it still works, just bring one or two, you can always get replenished on the road) Prepare a few good quality ones! This thing is not heavy and can be used as a water bag at critical moments.
6. Rubber bands (not required)
Prepare some, preferably of better quality. Although this thing is small, its effect is not small. Or bring a section of tire and process it yourself.
7. Plastic cable ties (not required). It is recommended to bring some of different lengths and thicknesses. They are very practical. The premise is that quality must be maintained! This is important.
8. Transparent tape (not required) for fixation! Choose according to actual needs.
10. Recording tool (every day you have different feelings, record every bit of the journey, it will be a beautiful and profound memory in the future, and it is also useful for writing travel notes) To put it simply, it is a small tool notebook and pen. It is worth noting here that it is recommended to bring an extra pencil, not too long, just a pencil tip.
In some places, rollerball pens and ballpoint pens may not be better than it.
3. Personal items
1. Jacket (I usually bring a riding windbreaker, a jacket can also be used, but a riding windbreaker is much lighter than a jacket, often one gram I don’t want to gain weight, so I don’t even bring too much food) This is a must-have. Waterproof and breathable are the characteristics of a jacket, which is especially important when traveling long distances. A good jacket can eliminate water vapor in the clothing, keep warm, windproof, and can prevent rain when it rains lightly. Moreover, the fabric of the jacket is generally tough and suitable for travel needs. I should choose a better one. "I have always used Wolf Claws." It feels good. For safety reasons, bright colors are preferred, so they are more eye-catching outdoors
2. Quick-drying underwear (not required) This is just mentioned here. If possible, prepare one, it will be of great help to you. The design of quick-drying underwear is that the front chest is composed of two layers of different fabrics, which can better block wind and keep heat. The back is generally designed with mesh fiber, which can better wick away sweat. More than 70% of the heat is discharged through the back, which can cool the body faster and discharge water vapor faster. Friends who don't have the conditions can wear cycling clothes inside, and the effect is good. The same reason as above.
3. Cycling clothes (I usually wear three sets of cycling clothes, all with long sleeves and long trousers. Two sets are not enough to change and wash, and four sets are a bit redundant) Recommended equipment, cycling clothes can make long-distance riding The process becomes more comfortable, especially cycling pants, which can effectively reduce friction on the inner thighs and relieve riding pressure. It can be worn directly outside in summer, and can also be worn under the body in winter. Cycling clothes are now widely available and the price is not very high.
4. Cycling gloves (I will choose long-fingered ones even if it is hot. It is inevitable that the boat will capsize in the gutter while riding. I usually also bring a pair of rubber gloves for rainy days. The weather will not be too cold here. , even if you don’t need to bring it, it’s a relatively important protective equipment. Many people choose half-finger gloves in summer, but if you are traveling for long distances, it is recommended to wear full-finger professional cycling gloves. The gloves should not be too large and should fit tightly to the hand, so that the fingertips can be protected in the event of an accident. harm. Although the half finger is cool, it is difficult to ensure that you can continue your journey in the event of an accident. It is best to have a reinforced design on the palm and joints of the gloves to better ensure safety.
5. Helmet (this is a must, safety is the first priority, only with a good body can you go further) It is an indispensable safety product like gloves. Human life is at stake, and quality is paramount. Many tragedies on long distances are caused by not wearing a helmet. Once you fall to the ground in an unexpected situation, the helmet can absorb a certain amount of impact and collapse instantly. At the same time, the head is also cushioned and protected. The way you wear it is also very important. You must strictly follow the regulations to adjust the position of the helmet and tighten the drawstring. It is definitely not a matter of wearing it. Friends who have the conditions, choose a better one.
6. Cycling goggles (required)
Its function is to effectively reduce the damage to the eyes caused by wind and sand dust, as well as the irritation of the sun and the ground to the eyes. Riders who go to the plateau are advised to wear lenses with UV400 or higher protection. The UV rays above 4,000 meters above sea level are several times that of the plains, and most of them are covered with snow all year round. The reflection of sunlight from the sky and the snow on the ground will cause great damage to the eyes, and can easily cause snow blindness. disease is still very dangerous. Try not to choose glasses with glass lenses to avoid eye damage caused by broken lenses in the event of an accident.
7. Sleeves, headscarf, and sunscreen (they are all long clothes and pants, so sleeves are not needed; headscarves are necessary to protect against sun, wind, and dust, but sunscreen is not necessary) , I usually don’t care about this when I’m on the road) These are all optional. It’s not necessarily a necessity, but if you bring it, it will protect you. Not much to say here.
I won’t talk about personal hygiene products here, just bring them according to your personal needs and preferences.
Four. Tools
1. Tool set (TOPEAK’s combination tool is very good and comes with a chain connector). Most of today’s traction bicycles use an internal six-screw fixing system. Bring a set of quality-guaranteed internals before traveling. The six tool set is still necessary. Don't be careless about tools. It is recommended to choose some well-known brands such as TOPEAK and SIGMA. These are equipped with link connector tools and are good choices.
2. Same-vehicle chain (you don’t need to bring it if you have a chain connector, the chain will generally not break). The same-vehicle chain refers to the same spare chain as the one equipped with the vehicle you are riding. You don’t need a lot of 8 to 10 knots is enough. Chain accidents are common when traveling, so you must bring this with you. It is best to bring a chain magic buckle, which will be more convenient. It is recommended that even if you don’t clean the entire vehicle during the trip, you should always clean the chain.
3. Spare tires (you can bring 2 inner tubes, but you don’t need to bring outer tires. It is rare to encounter a top-notch person who will blow out even the outer tires). You must bring spare inner tubes. For special itineraries (such as the Xinjiang-Tibet Line), it is recommended to carry 2 items, so don’t take chances. Prepare your own, because the size of your teammate's spare tire may not be suitable for your tires. It is best to test the air pressure of the inner tube before traveling to ensure that there is no problem. You should also carefully check the tires before traveling. If you are traveling on a route with difficult conditions and difficult to replenish supplies, you should prepare a spare tire (foldable is best). Do not pursue tire weight. Anti-puncture and anti-skid are the first considerations.
4. Tire repair tools (required) This is definitely something you must prepare. Before traveling, you must learn to repair tires by yourself and learn to use the correct tools and steps. I have seen screwdrivers used as tire levers on the road. Yes, it’s not that it’s not possible. Once something goes wrong, it will be even more troublesome. Be sure to bring all the glue and patches and put them away. There are many sets of tire repair tools on the market that are very good. It is best not to use metal tire levers, because many rims are now made of aluminum alloy ~ metal levers Improper operation of tire rods can cause damage to the rim, resulting in uneven braking force.
5. Inflator (required)
Generally, portable ones are used, mainly for portability. It can be tied to the frame to save space. For American-style inner tubes, you can choose a general small portable pump. For French-style inner tubes, you should choose a professional portable pump. Likewise, do a pressure test before traveling to ensure that the pump has no air leakage or pressure. No group situation occurs.
6. The brake pads of the brake pads (if it is a disc brake car, check the wear degree of the brake pads before departure. If it is relatively new or replace it with a new pair before departure, there is no need to back up the brake pads. (if it is a V brake, you have to bring one or two pairs) Brake pads and brake pads must also be brought. People will ensure that there will be no problems with the brake pads of the disc brake system. If you continue to brake on a downhill slope for a long time, the brake pads will wear out quickly. The increase in disc temperature will aggravate this situation. As for V brakes, the wear on the brake pads will increase in rainy days or downhill for a long time. It is difficult to buy suitable brake pads on the road, so it is recommended to prepare yourself. For a stroke of about 2000, a disc brake system needs to carry one set of brake pads, and a V brake system needs at least two sets of brake pads. After braking for a long time, clean the residue on the rim, and pay attention to cooling the disc brake pads.
7. Lubricating grease (generally chain oil, chain oil can be divided into dry and wet types. I use dry chain oil, mainly because it sticks less dust, but dry chain oil does not have a warm lubrication time. Chain oil lasts a long time) Just carry it appropriately. That comes in handy most of the time. Lubricating grease with ordinary butter is enough. Not only can it be lubricated, but it can also be used for sealing. When passing through areas with strong wind and sand, it can be applied on the parts that need to be sealed and removed at the destination to effectively prevent dust and water.
8. Spokes for this car (not needed)
Is this something you should definitely bring? For wheelsets, try to bring replaceable spokes. Is it normal for spokes to be damaged during a long journey? To choose the size suitable for your own wheels, you usually bring about 5 wheels. Spoke wrench depends on personal needs? Many tool sets come with them. Generally, if you need to replace less than 2 spokes on the road, you only need to tighten them.
For vehicles that do not have a quick-release structure, you need to carry an adjustable wrench. For commonly used screws in the car body, it is recommended to prepare 2 spare ones according to the size, especially screws suitable for locking at the shelf connection. If you do not choose the hexagonal tool set, you must bring a screwdriver.
Five. Medicines (I usually bring band-aids, hydrogen peroxide, Yunnan Baiyao, and cold medicines. If there is an accident, I can usually get them dealt with or supplied when I get to the accommodation) 1. Huoxiang Zhengqi Water
The reason why I choose Huoxiang Zhengqi water is effective for many symptoms of diarrhea, heat stroke, dizziness because it works faster than capsules.
2. Band-Aid
It is necessary for trauma and can also be used as a permanent fixing at critical moments.
3. Alcohol cotton ball
Disinfect and cool down the wound
4. Medical gauze and medical tape
Can be used as a simple bandage to prevent Wound infection
5. Analgesics
There are too many varieties, choose according to personal needs
6. Aspirin
A must-have, it has the additional effect of easing altitude sickness. Start taking it 2 days before going to the plateau.
7. Cold medicine
It is best to choose one that does not cause drowsiness, and the dose should not be too large.
8. Eye drops
Relieve eye fatigue, so don’t be careless during long journeys.
