The main campus of the University of Sydney is close to the southwest of downtown Sydney, the capital of New South Wales, covering an area of 72 hectares, close to Central Station and Chinatown, and only 5 minutes away from the central business district. One third of the center of Sydney is located on the south bank of the upstream cove. Sydney is located in the coastal basin between the Pacific Ocean in the east and the Blue Mountains in the west.

Sydney has a subtropical humid climate and it rains all year round. The weather in Sydney is regulated by the adjacent ocean, so the inland western city is slightly more continental. The warmest month is January, and the temperature in coastal areas is 18.6-25.8℃, with an average of 14.6 days in the year above 3℃. The highest temperature recorded was 45.3℃
