Please tell me how to find the water source before digging a well. Thank you.
Mainly use terrain to find water:
1. "It is most beneficial to find water by picking up the ground." In Zuoji Land, which is surrounded by mountains on three sides, groundwater flows concentratedly towards the mouth of Zuoji, so wells dug near the mouth of Zuoji will produce more water.
2. "There is a ditch between two mountains, and there is water flowing in the ditch rock." There is a valley between the two mountains, and it is easy to find water sources in the rock formations on both sides of the lower reaches of the valley.
3. "The two ditches intersect and the spring water is surging." There may be spring water under the mouth of the mountain where the two ditches meet. If a well is dug here, the water source is more reliable.
4. "The mountain mouth is facing the mountain mouth, and there is good water under the mouth." The two mountain mouths are opposite and close to each other. The terrain below the two mountain mouths is flat. It is easy to drill a well at the lock mouth to get water.
5. "Two mountains sandwich a solitary mountain, and the water often never dries up." If the rock formation under the isolated mountain becomes a water-proof layer due to local variation in lithology, it can block the flow of groundwater, and if a well is drilled upstream of the isolated mountain, water can be released.
6. "There is a mouth between two ditches, and there is spring water below." The mountains on both sides are longer, and there is a short mountain in the middle. At the mouth of the middle mountain, if there is a permeable layer above and an impermeable layer below, good water can be produced by drilling a well at a low point.
7. "Under the low mouth of the mountains, dig wells and dig springs with a large amount of water." The mountains are connected far apart and plunge towards one end, and groundwater can be found in the aquifers at the appropriate topography at the plunge ends.
8. "When the mountain turns around, there is water flowing." The low part of the mountain bay caused by the turning of the mountain blocks the groundwater flowing down the mountain, and is enriched in the aquifer, so water can be obtained by drilling wells.
9. “The convex mountains face the concave mountains, and good water lies between the concaves.” The shape of one mountain protrudes toward the opposite side, and the shape of the other mountain is concave inward. The concave and convex mountains are directly opposite each other. The water source is very good in the lower part of the concave mountain, and there is a lot of water from wells.
10. "If the mountain juts out, there will be plenty of water if you dig a well." A short mountain protrudes from the middle of the long mountain. If you dig a well at a low point in the sloping direction of the mountain, you can usually get water.
11. "Bay to bay, the water never dries up." The two mountain bays are facing each other. In the middle of the bay, waterlogging or the appearance of water-rich plants are found, which is a sign of the accumulated water in the mountains. If a well is dug here, there will be good spring water. 12. "The two mountains are connected, and there is a spring flowing below." Generally, there is a lack of year-round running water between mountains. Floods may be discharged at the joints in the rainy season, and groundwater may emerge as springs at the joints in the dry season.
13. "There are many pebbles on the floodplain, and the underground water is like an underground river." Although the river has dried up in winter, there is phreatic flow under the floodplain, which can be intercepted and stored, and wells can be dug to collect water.
