According to the quick report catalogue of China Seismological Station, within 200 kilometers around the epicenter, there were 406 earthquakes of magnitude 3 or above in recent 9 years, and the largest earthquake was an earthquake of magnitude 7.0 in Lushan County, Ya 'an City, Sichuan Province on April 20, 2065438. The magnitude distribution of the first 50 historical earthquakes is shown in the figure.

Which areas in Sichuan are not easy to cause earthquakes?
Sichuan Province is located in great basin, and this great basin is called Sichuan Basin, which is a province with frequent earthquakes. As Sichuan is located in the Himalayan-Mediterranean seismic belt, the earthquakes in Sichuan Province are mainly distributed in the west of East longitude 104 degrees, that is, western Sichuan, southern Sichuan, northern Sichuan and central Sichuan. But there are fewer earthquakes in eastern Sichuan.
China is also a country with frequent earthquakes. There are five main seismic zones and 23 seismic zones in China. As can be seen from the seismic map of China below, they are mainly distributed in North China, Taiwan Province Province and Southwest China. There are many earthquake zones in Sichuan province.
Sichuan earthquakes are mainly concentrated in the following eight seismic zones (regions):
Xianshuihe seismic belt: it starts in Ganzi county, passes through Luhuo, Daofu and Kangding counties, and reaches the south of Luding county. The whole belt is in Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture and extends from northwest to southeast. It is the largest and strongest seismic belt in Sichuan Province and belongs to western Sichuan.
Anhe-Zemuhe seismic belt: mainly in western Sichuan of Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture;
Jinsha river seismic belt: mainly located in Ganzi Tibetan autonomous prefecture, belonging to western Sichuan;
Songpan-Jiaochang seismic belt: mainly located in Bian Feng and Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, including Jiuzhaigou, Songpan and Pingwu counties;
Longmenshan seismic belt: It starts from Qingchuan County, passes through Beichuan, Wenchuan, Dujiangyan and other counties and cities, reaches Luding County, and extends to the northeast and southwest of Sichuan along Longmen Mountain. Wenchuan earthquake in 2008 and Ya 'an earthquake in 20 13 are both seismic zones.
Litang seismic belt: mainly located in Litang County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture;
Muli-Yanyuan seismic belt: mainly in Muli County and Yanyuan County of Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture;
Mingshan-Mabian-Zhaotong seismic belt: around southern Sichuan;
The western part of Sichuan Province is mountainous, and the eastern part of the earth is dominated by basin plains. Most earthquakes occur in the west. In fact, this is mainly influenced by the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau seismic belt, especially in Yunnan and Sichuan provinces. This seismic zone is the largest in China, with the strongest seismic activity and the most frequent major earthquakes. According to statistics, there have been 9 earthquakes of magnitude 8 or above and 78 earthquakes of magnitude 7-8.
