Historical Allusions to Charity Temple

In 1912, Feng Yuxiang stationed troops at the foot of Tiantai Mountain. He hiked up the mountain and visited Charity Temple. He liked it very much and settled in the temple. He also commanded the troops to plant a large number of trees on the mountains, help the people in the surrounding villages to cultivate wasteland, and did a lot of practical things. The second time he lived in seclusion was in 1917. Feng Yuxiang came to Charity Temple to "recuperate" because he couldn't stand the behavior of Wu Peifu, Cao Kun and others in the Beiyang government. In 1924, General Feng Yuxiang launched the "Capital Revolution" here, overthrowing President Cao Kun and expelling Puyi from the palace, ending thousands of years of feudal monarchy in our country. During his seclusion, he mainly studied and met friends at Charity Temple. During this period, he received people from all walks of life such as Li Dazhao, Zhang Xueliang, Kong Xiangxi, and Deng Baoshan.
