Guangzhou Meteorological Bureau has four institutions: Office (Guangzhou Meteorological Bureau Administrative Law Enforcement Office, Supervision and Audit Bureau co-located), Emergency Disaster Reduction Office, Science and Technology Forecast Office, Planning Finance Office and Personnel Education Office; Guangzhou Meteorological Observatory, Guangzhou Climate and Agrometeorological Center (Guangzhou Remote Sensing and Environmental Meteorological Center), Guangzhou Meteorological Information Network Center (Guangzhou Emergency Warning Information Release Center), Guangzhou Lightning Protection Facilities Testing Institute, and Guangzhou Lightning Protection and Disaster Reduction Management Office.

There are 5 ground meteorological observation stations (excluding Nansha) in Guangzhou, including 1 national benchmark meteorological observation station, 1 national basic meteorological observation station and 3 national general meteorological observation stations. * * * WP3 103 unattended automatic weather stations 186 have been built in the whole city, forming Guangzhou automatic weather station detection network and 5 GPS/MET water vapor flux stations. Guangzhou new generation Doppler radar was built in April 20001year, located in Nancun Town, Panyu District, which is an important part of the construction of mesoscale disastrous weather monitoring and early warning system in Guangdong Province. In 2004, Panyu Meteorological Bureau installed automatic weather station equipment in Visala, Finland. In March 2004, an atmospheric aerosol observatory and an ultraviolet detector were installed. In 2006, a video consultation system was established to realize video weather consultation among provinces, cities and counties. In 2008, a lidar (LAP-3000) was built in Nansha Meteorological Exploration Base.

The weather forecast service in Guangzhou began in the early 1930s. At present, meteorological information service products include Guangzhou weather forecast and application, medium and long-term weather forecast and meteorological information. On April 1 day, 2000, Guangzhou issued the "Guangzhou City's Plan for Defending Tropical Cyclones and Rainstorms", and for the first time publicly released weather forecasts and early warning signals through various media. On July 29th, 2003, with the approval of Guangzhou Municipal People's Government, Guangzhou Meteorological Bureau took the lead in officially issuing high-temperature warning signals nationwide.
