Ningbo Xianxiang Lupu Village Travel Notes
Saturday, the first day after the rain, 21, the weather is neither cold nor hot, a suitable day for traveling. I have long heard that Lupu Village in Xianxiang is simple and elegant, with beautiful scenery and quiet surroundings. Instead of being fascinated by it, it is better to drive there to find out.
Set "Lupu Village" as the Amap navigation destination, and you will be directed to the parking lot next to the Yinzhou District Heroes and Martyrs Memorial Hall at the entrance of the village. Lupu Village is the place where the Luopu Riots occurred and is also the holy place of the Ningbo Revolution. The towering monument was originally called the Luopu Riot Monument. It's good to locate here. As the 100th anniversary of our party is approaching, it is very meaningful to go here to pay homage to the Heroes Monument and remember the revolutionary martyrs.
After paying homage to the monument, we drove across the small stone bridge and returned to the asphalt road for about two or three minutes before entering the village. First, check in at Shu's Ancestral Hall. This is an ancient building with black walls and black tiles. It was the former site of the Lupu Peasants' Association during the revolutionary period. There are historical facts about the Luopu Riots on the walls inside the ancestral hall.
Lupu Village is located in a long and narrow mountain. A stream runs through the village. Residential houses are built near the stream. The ancient trees on both sides of the bank have towering branches and thick shade.
The house next to the small stone bridge is probably a B&B. It has been beautifully renovated. How pleasant it would be to sip a cup of spring tea in this transparent sunroom while listening to the gurgling stream at your feet.
Go up the stream and go all the way to the end of the village. The last house is also very beautiful, which makes people have the urge to return to the garden and live in the fields.
Interestingly, when returning from Shimen Reservoir, the two black dogs of this family lost their owners, but I met them, and they accompanied me all the way back to the village. On the way, the short puppy encountered a ditch and didn't dare to jump across the ditch. The tall dog was watching anxiously from the front. When I saw it from behind, I hugged it warmly. Go across the ditch.
After passing this gorgeous house at the end of the village, you will reach the Lupu Ancient Road leading to Shimen Reservoir. I really like walking on this forest path up the river! The vegetation on both sides of the ancient road is lush and the green is intoxicating. Just after the rain, the stream swells, and the sound of rushing water can be heard all the way, breaking the silence in the mountains. The entire length of the ancient trail is about 1.2 kilometers, and it is very flat all the way, making it effortless to walk.
When you see a towering dam at the end of the trail, you have arrived at the Shimen Reservoir, the end of the ancient trail. Standing on the dam body and looking at the green mountains surrounding the reservoir, I felt very relaxed and happy. Ningbo has suffered from severe water shortage in the past two years. Many rivers have dried up and reservoirs have bottomed out. Shimen Reservoir is no exception. Looking at the water depth measurement benchmark inside the dam, it has reached its lowest level. In previous years, what you would have seen would have been the scenic view of Gaoxia emerging from Pinghu Lake.
When we reached the top of the dam, we found that there was a cement road on the right leading to the reservoir. It seemed that we could drive to Shimen Reservoir. What is gratifying is that there are many wild thornberries growing on the roadside (my wife said that Ningbo people call them Miaozi). It is the ripe season, and the fruits are sour and sweet, and they are very delicious, so I ate them up happily. I ate wild thornberries when I was a child, and I have always missed the taste of my childhood. Fast forward a few years, but I encountered them in the mountains of Ningbo far away from my hometown. It was an unexpected gain from this trip.
Don’t take anything away except photos; don’t leave anything behind except footprints. I waved my hand, but I didn’t take away a single cloud, so let me take the beautiful scenery along the way on my phone and share it now to let more people know about the beauty of Ningbo hidden in the mountains.
This ancient village in Ningbo is so beautiful. The three ancient roads are quiet and cool, which is better than Taoyuan and water camping.
There is a place at the junction of Fenghua District and Yinzhou District, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province. It was originally a Jiangpu, surrounded by reeds, was later lifted into land and turned into a village. This village is now surrounded by mountains and seas. The clear stream flows slowly in the village, which is clean and elegant. There are actually three ancient roads hidden around the village. Each of these ancient roads is covered with green trees, with gurgling streams, quiet and cool, like a paradise, very suitable for summer travel.
This ancient village is Lupu Village in Yinzhou District, Ningbo City. Most of the villagers in Lupu Village have the surname Shu. Their ancestors originally lived in Shujiashan, which is deep in the mountains. Due to the large population, the village could no longer accommodate them, so they moved to the current location to form a village. At the foot of Shujia Mountain, there are still traces of Shimen Temple and the lives of the villagers back then. Its ancestors probably moved here during the Yuan Dynasty, and the village has a history of more than 700 years.
Lupu Village is surrounded by mountains, and two streams meet in the village. There is a stream passing through the village, forming a beautiful scenery. There are ancient trees or ancient buildings on both sides of the stream, such as the Shu family ancestral hall. There are several piers on the bank of the stream, and there are dams on the stream. Villagers often wash and rinse on the stream, which is full of human fireworks.
Lupu Village is far away from the urban area and traffic arteries. There is no hustle and bustle, and it has not been eroded by commerce. The village is original, quiet and natural, and full of nostalgia everywhere. Nowadays, there are some changes in the village. The houses at the head of the village have been repainted and turned into works of art with whitewashed walls and "ruined walls", which look more elegant.
The middle of the village has also been transformed into a small square. The square has landscapes such as a neighborhood market, a story gallery, and a large stone mill. The neighborhood market is a pavilion-style building. The walls and roof are mainly made of Hsinchu, and the story gallery is made of wood. They all look very recognizable and are a beautiful scenery in the village.
There have also been changes on both sides of the stream. There are some small literary and artistic landscapes. The houses next to the ancient trees have also been converted into B&Bs. The walls and stream banks are decorated with used tires to make them fresh and unique.
Walk upstream along the main stream in the village and enter the deep mountains to find the Shimen Ancient Road, one of the three ancient roads in Lupu. The Shimen Ancient Road was opened up by the ancestors of Lupu Ancient Village. At the end of the ancient road is the Shimen Reservoir, where the ancestors of Lupu Ancient Village lived. Later it became a staff hiking trail.
The Shimen Ancient Trail has a flat terrain and almost no stone steps along the way, making it especially suitable for the elderly and children to hike. The entire trail is hidden in dense woods. There are constant streams along the way. It is like the Wizard of Oz, better than a paradise in the world. The road is quiet and cool, making it very comfortable to walk.
Shimen Reservoir is surrounded by mountains, with rippling lake water and wonderful landscapes, as beautiful as a painting. In addition to the Shimen Ancient Road, there are also ancient roads in the north and south of the entrance of Lupu Village, called the Huosailing Ancient Road and the Tongtanling Ancient Road respectively.
The Huokanling Ancient Road is on the south side of the village. It is about 300 meters away from the mountain road beside the ancient trees at the head of the village. This ancient road was an important transportation route from Lupu to Fenghua in ancient times. It was also a military passage and a red ancient road. There was a coastal defense outpost in the Song Dynasty, a fire crawler in the Ming Dynasty, and a beacon tower set up here by Qi Jiguang when he was fighting against the Japanese. Today's Huokanling Ancient Trail is also a very cool and beautiful hiking trail, which is very suitable for summer or autumn travel.
The Tongtanling Ancient Road is on the north side of the village. It was an important transportation route for Lupu villagers in the past to go to Tangtou City and Hanling City to go to the market and visit relatives and friends. Along this ancient road, you pass Tongyin Temple (now burned) and cross Tiesha Ridge to reach Zouxi in Tangxi Town. The scenery along the way is beautiful. The Tongtanling Ancient Trail is now also a popular trail among hiking and mountaineering enthusiasts in Ningbo. Especially in the crisp autumn weather, there is an endless stream of tourists going to the ancient trail to climb mountains.
In addition to green mountains, clear streams and ancient roads, Lupu Village also has two special scenery. These two scenic spots are the Yinzhou District Heroes and Martyrs Memorial Hall and the Shu Ancestral Hall, both of which are red scenic spots.
The Yinzhou District Heroes and Martyrs Memorial Hall is located at the head of the village. There is a martyrs monument on the hall and a group of martyrs sculptures in front of the hall. The famous "Luqing Riot" broke out in Lupu Village in 1927, firing the first shot of the revolution in eastern Zhejiang. Therefore, this memorial hall was originally called the Luqing Riot Memorial Hall and was later renamed the Yinzhou District Martyrs Memorial Hall.
The Shu Family Ancestral Hall was originally the ancestral hall of the Shu family. Later, the local Farmers Association launched a revolution here, and it is the former site of the Lupu Farmers Association. The ancestral hall is a quadrangle with a stage and wing rooms. Wall charts of the Twenty-Four Filial Piety are hung on the walls. The wing room has been turned into an exhibition hall for the Lupu Peasant Riots, displaying the revolutionary history of Lupu with pictures and texts.
In summary, Lupu Village is an ancient village that combines natural scenery, cultural monuments and red elements. It is isolated from nature, far away from the hustle and bustle, quiet and simple, and is a beautiful village suitable for home travel.

An ancient village in Zhejiang suitable for retirement: built near a stream with a good environment, the beauty becomes a landscape painting
Hidden in the beautiful mountains and rivers of Zhejiang There are many unknown landscapes. The more you delve into them, the more you become fascinated by them. In Ningbo, Zhejiang, there is a simple and elegant mountain village. It lives in seclusion in the mountains and forests, far away from the bustling city. It is as beautiful as a landscape painting. It is Lupu Village.
Lupu Village is surrounded by mountains, with streams passing through the village, and has a good natural ecology. The word "Lupu" means Jiangpu among the reeds.
The car drove through the flat mountain road, passing by neat ponds, and arrived at the foot of the ancient village.
Tao Yuanming wrote in "The Peach Blossom Spring": "The land is flat, the houses are neat, and there are fertile fields, beautiful ponds, mulberry and bamboo." The Lupu Village in front of me is the real-life Peach Blossom Spring.
This is an ancient village with mountains and rivers. It is divided into two by a clear stream. The houses are built near the stream and the villagers sleep on the water. There are mostly ancient houses and low-rise houses in the village, with white walls and gray tiles, elegant door lintels, and high wind and fire walls, which are typical of the Qing Dynasty style.
The history of Lupu Village is a pioneering history of ancestors reclaiming land from the sea. The village was built in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. Some Ningbo people came here to reclaim ponds, which kicked off the development of Lupu Village. The villagers rely on the mountains to eat and the water to drink water. They first boiled salt and hunted, then planted rice and fruits, and now they are living in the breeding base. They live a pleasant life.
The ancient village is very beautiful. When you go up the stream, you will see old people fishing on the bank. There are lush ancient trees on both sides and the river gurgling down. The picture is like a landscape painting. On the small road next to the village, a yellow dog occasionally walks by, looking at us curiously, as if wondering where we come from?
Like all ancient villages, there are no young people left in Lupu Village, leaving only the elderly stationed and living a simple life. On the way, I met an old woman walking down the mountain carrying firewood in a bamboo basket to prepare today's lunch.
It is very quiet here, without any noise, only the sound of running water and birdsong. Most of the lives of the villagers are related to this stream. They chat under the trees or wash their clothes by the river, leading an isolated, quiet and peaceful pastoral life.
If you keep going forward, you will see a mountain road between trees. This is the Lupu Ancient Road. This road is said to have a history of more than 400 years. When the villagers first came here, they were connected to the outside world through the ancient road. Daily necessities were bought through the ancient road, and the village's mountain products were also sold through the ancient road.
Before the village had running water, the villagers also fetched drinking water from the mountain. Often before dawn, men would go to the mountain to fetch water on their shoulders. Over time, they walked out of a winding and rugged mountain road. .
The ancient road is very narrow, allowing only one person to pass. The villagers seem to have never thought about repairing it. It is still a dirt road, and you can feel the texture of the soil when walking on it. The environment of the ancient trail is very good. On weekdays, groups of travel enthusiasts come to hike. They walk along the stream with the flowing water, which makes it feel like a wild adventure.
The history of Lupu Village is recorded in an ancestral hall. Because everyone in the village has the surname "Shu", it is called "Shu's Ancestral Hall". The ancestral hall was built 400 years ago and has a typical Jiangnan ancestral style. There is a screen wall in front of the gate, a stage in the middle, and a hall in the main body. Weddings and weddings in the village will be held in the ancestral hall.
Lupu Village does not compete for fame and fortune. It has been unknown for a long time and has only recently begun to develop rural tourism. The village has renovated rivers, strengthened and repaired old houses and trees, and plans to build a health care base in front of the village for many elderly people to come here for retirement.
Lupu Village is indeed a good place for elderly care. It has a first-class ecological environment, fresh air, and high negative oxygen ion content, which is very helpful for the elderly to maintain their health. The ancient village is very quiet, without the noise and bustle of the scenic spots, and life passes slowly and comfortably.
Old people gather together, drink tea and chat. When the weather is fine, they can climb the ancient road, be with nature, talk with the mountains and rivers, and feel as carefree as wandering clouds and wild cranes. The village has convenient transportation. It can be reached by car from Ningbo in one hour. The scenery along the way is pleasant. You can come here to play on weekends if you have nothing to do.
Address: Xianxiang Town, Yinzhou District, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province
