The origin of Taipingfan: In the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, this place was a remote mountainous area, beyond the reach of the county office. Thieves appeared and murders occurred one after another, so it was named "the fan of corpses" or "the fan of troubled times"; and due to the destruction of forests and land reclamation, water and soil erosion, the fields were littered with rocks, and it was also called "the fan of chaos".
One day, a newly-appointed magistrate of the county came to visit. When he heard about the troubled times, he became furious: "How can there be troubled times in peaceful and prosperous times?" With the stroke of a pen, "troubled times" was changed to "peace". Strangely enough, Taipingfan has been really peaceful since then.
Mr. Li Qingfeng, an old man in the Revolution of 1911, once wrote a couplet: "There are rocks in the fields, and the boat is sailing smoothly."
