Wu was defeated by Yue, but Yue was destroyed by Chu. Therefore, some people think that these two peerless weapons should be trophies, collected into the hands of Chu people, and finally buried in the Chu tomb with the nobles of Chu as funerary objects.
Of course, there is another saying, that is, the sword of the King of Yue is Yue Nv's dowry to the State of Chu. According to a large number of bamboo slips unearthed from Chu tombs, the age of this tomb group can be traced back to early Chu Huaiwang, when the daughter of Gou Jian, the king of Yue, was a favorite of King Zhao of Chu, so Gou Jian's sword was probably dedicated to Chu.
