Brief introduction of Wuchuan Customs
Three Wonders of Wuchuan The floating colors, clay sculptures and flower bridges in Wuchuan City are known as the "Three Wonders of Wuchuan". In 2000, the Ministry of Culture named Meilong in Wuchuan as "the hometown of China folk art (floating color and clay sculpture)", and the Guangdong Provincial Department of Culture named Huang Po Town as "the hometown of Guangdong folk art (floating color)". Wuchuan clay sculpture was selected as the "Guangdong Intangible Cultural Heritage List" in 2007, and Wuchuan Piaose was selected as the "National Intangible Cultural Heritage List" in 2008.
Piaose
Wuchuan Piaose was selected as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2008. Wuchuan floating color is the first of the "three musts". According to Chen Shouquan, a folk artist from Huang Po Town, during the late Qing Dynasty, eight villages in Huang Po, Wuchuan, often held god-wandering competitions, and there were costumes and parades to show drama clips, commonly known as "land colors", which attracted attention. In order to win the support of other villages, he and his father creatively held a costume parade. On a wooden box, they designed "Who gave birth", and Xiao flew in the wind on the lotus, so it was called "floating color". After this set of floating colors was exhibited, it traveled all over Huang Po and sensationalized the whole county, which is the origin of Wuchuan floating colors.
clay sculpture
Clay sculpture-pottery producer Wu Chuan celebrates the Lantern Festival, and has a tradition of making clay sculpture exhibitions, which has a history of nearly a thousand years. The rise and development of clay sculpture can be traced back to the developed tile and ceramic industry in Lu Mei. According to legend, as early as the Lantern Festival in the late Tang Dynasty and the early Song Dynasty, some ceramic workers in Wayao Village of Meilong exhibited brick clay sculptures and life-size clay figurines, which attracted many audiences. After that, Mei Lan usually held a clay sculpture exhibition at the Lantern Festival. Most of these clay sculptures are based on traditional operas, fairy tales and holiday customs. Such as three visits to the thatched cottage and the West Chamber, the Eight Immortals crossed the sea and Yue Fei served the country. Wuchuan clay sculpture is a fine work of art, which is famous at home and abroad for its beautiful shape, fine workmanship and both form and spirit.
Huaqiao
Huaqiao was originally a bridge built by residents of Haige Village, which was used to cross the river and play in the city. It is said that at first it was connected by bamboo rafts or boats, but later it was replaced by bamboo bridges because of the danger of pontoon bridges. In the old society, people were afraid that men and women would walk together on a bridge with the feudal idea of "men and women don't kiss each other", and it was inevitable that they would brush their backs. So they built a second bridge for men and women instead, and covered and decorated the bridge for women, which became a "flower bridge". According to legend, men and women embrace each other and are very lively. For safety reasons, since 2000, it has been decorated as a reinforced concrete bridge leading to Jiang Xindao. The bridge is hundreds of meters long and about eleven meters wide. The bridge is full of flowers, colorful flags, celebrity calligraphy and painting, and lanterns, which are very spectacular. launch
