Why did the monk ring the bell?
In the eyes of many people, it is very easy for a monk to ring a bell, without thinking or effort. Just call a few times. Is it really that easy for monks to hit the bell? Only when you personally see monks banging bells, you won't say that monks banging bells is synonymous with "muddling along".
According to Buddhists, there are 108 kinds of troubles in life. How can we eliminate these troubles? Therefore, the problem is solved by ringing the bell. So the temple will ring the morning bell. Knock 108 to eliminate 108 kinds of troubles. Therefore, there is a saying in the Buddhist scriptures that "when you hear the bell, your troubles are bright, your wisdom is long, and Bodhi is born".
Therefore, ringing the bell is neither a pure routine nor a superficial article, but a manifestation of the heartfelt cries of Buddhist disciples. Otherwise, why can the leisurely rhythm, cadence and carefree voice give people beautiful enjoyment, shock and purify people's hearts and cultivate people's sentiments? On the other hand, the clock not only has the function of music, but more importantly, it also has a magical power, which can escape people's life and death and suffering.
Let's see how the monk rings the bell. I talked to an old abbot about it. He said: "A monk who rings a bell must have quick hands and feet, a flexible brain, a certain foundation and a strong sense of responsibility." I was puzzled the first time I heard it, which is just the opposite of what we usually understand. Later, I heard this rule in another temple. In addition to the above requirements, I have to be proficient in scripture to be competent. You must recite Buddhist scriptures before ringing the bell, and then you can ring the bell with your spine. When you ring the bell, you should strike a rhythm with clear priorities. The bell must be cadenced, spread far and reverberate.
This is a philosophical story about attitude: In the morning, the abbot, Shang Yi, just got up from meditation, when the melodious and deep bell came from the temple, the whole valley seemed to be shaking. The Zen master listened attentively for a long time. When the bell stopped, he couldn't help calling the waiter and asked, "Who is the person who rang the doorbell this morning?" The waiter replied, "Report to the abbot, it's the new novice monk." Shang nodded and told the waiter to call the little novice monk.
Shang Yi, the Zen master, asked the little monk who was ringing the bell, "What was your mood to ring the bell this morning?" Little novice monk didn't know why Jackson Shang Yi wanted to see him, let alone why he asked. He replied uneasily, "I'm not in a special mood, just ringing the bell for the sake of ringing it." Zen master Shang Yi said, "This is not your heart, is it? What must be on your mind when you ring the bell? Because the bell I heard today is a very noble and loud voice, and only devout people can knock out this deep and broad voice. " Little novice monk thought and thought, and answered Master Shang Yi seriously, saying, "Actually, I didn't mean to watch it. It's just that I usually hear you say that when you ring the bell, you should think that the bell is the Buddha, be pious, fast, respect the bell like the Buddha, and ring the bell with a meditation and worship. That's it. " Shang Yi, the Zen master, was very happy. He further reminded the young monk: "When dealing with affairs in the future, you should keep the Zen mind of ringing the bell this morning, and you will achieve unlimited success in the future!" Later, little novice monk always remembered the enlightenment of master tonsure and Zen master Shang Yi, kept the Zen mind in his mind, and finally became a monk. He is the Zen master Morita who later inherited the true biography of Zen master Shang Yi.
"When a monk rings the bell every day." Ringing the bell is a compulsory course for a monk. But the seemingly simple and ordinary ringing of the bell, but listen attentively, ponder over the mind of the bell ringer, and find that this person is by no means ordinary. Modern managers should reflect on whether they have the insight of this Zen master, and can find out whether a person is a talent from such a trivial matter as ringing a bell. In fact, the only way to identify talents is to observe everything carefully, polish your eyes, and examine and identify whether a person is a talent from the nuances that others don't pay attention to, just like Jackson Shang Yi. Talents who are truly used by enterprises and can bring hope and return to enterprises should be talents with good professional quality and ethics. Without professional quality and ethics, such people will never become the talents needed by enterprises. On the contrary, the stronger the ability, the greater the damage to the enterprise. The Nick Leeson incident that brought down Bahrain Bank gave us an unforgettable warning.
Ringing the bell is a compulsory course for young monks, and work is a compulsory course for employees in enterprises. We should reflect deeply: Why do we work? Do you work for salary, for ideals and ambitions, or for yourself and the future of the enterprise? In fact, each of us is not only working hard for his salary return, but also working hard to realize his ideal and create the future. Since you are in it, you should devote yourself to everything. You should never be a bystander or blame or complain. How to do a good job for everyone is like a young monk sitting in front of a clock. First, before sitting on the clock, when the "heart" is not there, knock if you want to, and don't knock if you don't want to. I can get by with my job, and I can get paid anyway. Second, in the absence of "God", people just ring the bell every day according to the regulations, and just hastily complete the tasks assigned to them. As for the quality and effect, they didn't think too much, turned a blind eye to the work outside the task and were too lazy to move. Third, people are still "in the heart" and ring the bell well, so as to awaken the addicted sentient beings, that is, to do their best, give play to their wisdom and creativity, and strive to make their work perfect. Of these three forms of expression, I certainly hope that the third one will become the mainstream. To reach the third realm, everyone needs a "clock" in his heart!
There is a "clock" in my heart, which makes the clock attractive. In the face of a simple and boring job, both the bell ringer and the abbot should try their best to make this boring job as vivid as possible and seek some fun in boredom and simplicity; It is necessary to improve the working and living environment of bell ringers as much as possible, guide bell ringers to cultivate certain hobbies, and make bell ringers love bells with the efforts of both sides. Having a "bell" in this heart is happy, positive and the effect is the best.
