What city is Taiyuan called?
Taiyuan, another name of Taiyuan, is an ancient city with a long history. It was called Jinyang in ancient times, or Bing (Zhou) for short.
It has been more than 2,500 years since Jinyang City was built in Zhao Jianzi in the 15th year of Jin Dinggong in the Spring and Autumn Period (497 BC). During the Warring States period, it was the capital of the early Zhao State. Qin and Han dynasties set up counties; Northern Wei Dynasty and Northern Qi Dynasty were called "Fu Ba" and "Biedu".
In 6 17 AD, Li Yuan and his son set out from Jinyang to overthrow the Sui Dynasty and establish the rule of the Tang Dynasty. Later, Jinyang was called "the capital of the north" and "Beijing", and it was as famous as Chang 'an in Kyoto and Luoyang in the East.
During the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, Jinyang was the capital of the later Tang Dynasty, the later Jin Dynasty, the later Han Dynasty and the northern Han Dynasty. Therefore, Taiyuan is called "Dragon City".
