According to legend, in the Northern Song Dynasty, Waisha Town once formed a beach, which was located outside Wangbi Port (now Chengcheng Town), hence the name.

At the end of the Southern Song Dynasty (A.D. 1279), residents of Wuyi Lane in Putian, Fujian moved to settle here. The capital of Pengzhou, Jieyang County.
