China Naming Network - Eight-character Q&A - Typhoon suspension level

Typhoon suspension level

Work can only be suspended if a typhoon reaches Category 6 or above.

Working during typhoon emergency shutdowns does not count as a rest day, and legal holidays and extended working hours do not count as overtime. When an outdoor typhoon reaches level 6 or above, relevant outdoor staff must stop work. For example, during heavy lifting, lifting operations should be stopped when there are strong winds of level 6 or above in the open air or severe weather such as heavy rain, heavy snow, and fog. Classes will be suspended for typhoons with level 8 or above. We may or have been affected by tropical cyclones within 24 hours, with average winds above level 8.

During the period when the yellow, orange, and red typhoon warning signals are in effect, in addition to staff who must be on duty, the employer shall arrange for staff to work later or earlier based on the work location, nature of work, disaster prevention and avoidance needs, etc. Get off work or stop work, and provide necessary risk avoidance measures for on-the-job staff and staff stranded in the unit due to weather conditions.

Things you should pay attention to during typhoon days

1. If you are outside, do not take shelter from wind and rain near temporary buildings, billboards, iron towers, big trees, etc. If you are driving, you should immediately drive to an underground parking lot or a sheltered area.

2. If you live in a tent, you should fold the tent immediately and take shelter from the wind in a sturdy house. If you are on the water (such as swimming), you should immediately go ashore to take shelter from the wind and rain.

3. If you are already in a sturdy house, you should close the windows carefully and use tape to form a "meter" pattern on the window glass to prevent the window glass from breaking. If a typhoon is accompanied by thunder, lightning protection measures must be taken. After a typhoon, you need to pay attention to environmental hygiene and food and water safety.

4. Open-air group activities or large indoor gatherings should be canceled promptly, and personnel evacuation should be done well. Do not travel to areas where typhoons pass through or go to the beach to swim, let alone take a boat out to sea.
