Why does Typhoon Plum Blossom appear in the north?
The average temperature in the coastal areas of Shandong and Liaoning is the highest in August, so it is most likely that the typhoon will affect Shandong and Liaoning northward in August.
The path of "Meihua" belongs to the eighth category of typhoon abnormal path, that is, high-latitude frontal landing. This typhoon has been moving to the northwest since its formation and landed in Shandong, Liaoning and western Korea. This path is stable, but the probability is small. In August this year, the subtropical high formed a north-south block structure. Influenced by the turning airflow at its western edge, Meihua rarely landed at high latitudes. In June, the No.5 typhoon "Miller" also made landfall in Chengshantou, Shandong Province, because of the north-south block structure formed by the subtropical high. However, the water temperature in August is higher than that in June, so the intensity of plum blossoms is stronger and the landing position is farther north. The following is the path map of Typhoon Meihua.
