China Naming Network - Eight-character Q&A - Where is the atmospheric pressure verified?

Where is the atmospheric pressure verified?

Previous respondents all mentioned weather station data. Admittedly, this is a very important data source, but some places do not necessarily have weather stations, and some places may have to pay to obtain data. In fact, there are still many channels for us to obtain data during scientific research.

There are three kinds of common pressure data: sea level pressure, ground pressure and station pressure. Among them, the station pressure is generally taken as the ground pressure, depending on the height of the actual station.

Sea level pressure

Sea level pressure refers to the atmospheric pressure from sea level per unit area. This data is provided by both weather stations and satellites, as shown in figure 1, which is the data calling interface of global weather stations.

Select a site at will, and the corresponding latitude and longitude coordinates and site information will be displayed on the right side of the system. Click OK to get the meteorological data of this site over the years, as shown in Figure 2.

Figure 2. Website data preview

Because this title refers to the annual data of the station, the red arrow refers to the average sea level pressure value of the station in 2020: 10 15.69hPa, and the green arrow below refers to the annual average pressure of the station: 1006.38hPa, which always decreases with the elevation, so generally speaking, the station pressure will be lower than the sea level.

Surface pressure

Re-analysis data such as satellites also provide data on ground pressure and sea level pressure. As shown in Figure 3, it is a county-level global grid data call interface. On the right, you can select a column of meteorological elements, including temperature, precipitation, humidity, wind speed and direction, sunshine radiation and so on.

For example, call the data of surface pressure (left) and sea level pressure (right) in Nanhu District, Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province in 2020, as shown in Figure 4.

It can also be seen from the data in Figure 4 that from 65438+ 10 to April, with the increase of air temperature, the atmospheric pressure is gradually decreasing. The annual variation of atmospheric pressure in most parts of Chinese mainland is high in winter and low in summer. The periodicity of pressure change is obvious, but it is not a fixed feature. For example, the ocean and the mainland are opposite. Therefore, it is necessary to combine geographical location and analyze a large number of data in order to draw a more objective conclusion.
