The legend of Datong Nine Dragon Wall?
The origin of the Nine Dragon Wall is this: after Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty, established the Yingtian Mansion, his many sons divided the land into kings and guarded the center.
Zhu Yuanzhang’s thirteenth son was named Zhu Gui, who was established as the prince since he was a child. However, he did not read poetry since he was a child. He was stupid and stubborn and had a very weird temper. He wanted stars but dared not give the moon. He ate pig tails instead of cow heads. It can't be replaced either. When he was nearly 20 years old, Zhu Yuanzhang saw that he had no talent and virtue, so he deposed him as prince and made him acting king to guard Datong. When King Dai arrived in Datong, he roamed the streets and often killed people for no reason. The people of Datong secretly called him "King Dai".
It is said that when the Lengzuo King reached sixty years old, he often wore narrow clothes and a bald hat to watch plays in the theater. When he was happy, he would go backstage and dress up as a soldier who marked numbers and go on stage in person. When he had time, he would take a few guards with him and go to the Xiaonan Street area to stir up trouble and tease good housewives, just like a gangster.
Dai Wang’s wife is the daughter of General Xu Da. Although she is the daughter of a general, she is an ugly and jealous shrew. Once, she painted the faces of Dai Wang’s two beautiful ladies with pot black paint all over their faces. , venting her jealousy. In this way, the couple caused chaos in Datong City, and the people were in dire straits.
After Zhu Yuanzhang deposed the throne of the Dai Crown Prince, he established four sons to inherit the throne. After King Dai heard the news, he made a big fuss in the Golden Palace and shouted that he wanted to be the emperor. Zhu Yuanzhang had no choice but to carry out extensive construction work in Datong City and build a palace so that the king could live out his "emperor's addiction". Therefore, there are still street names such as "Emperor Street", "Zhengdian Street", "Donghua Gate" and "Dayoucang" in the ancient city of Datong, all of which are the ruins of the old palace. After the palace was repaired, it was difficult to silence the king.
One day, the stupid prince suddenly remembered that he wanted to go to Yandi to visit his fourth brother Zhu Di. The King of Yan was annoyed and afraid of his younger brother, but he had no choice but to bite the bullet and suppress his temper. He entertained him with a small banquet for three days and a large banquet for five days. One day, King Dai was full of wine and food and was wandering outside the palace. He looked up and saw a newly built glazed nine-dragon wall in front of the palace. He was very happy and clamored to build an elegant one in front of the palace in Datong. He also acted shamelessly and brought the design back. to Datong. The king immediately summoned Wu and his son, the glaziers of Huairen Wu Kiln, and ordered them to burn the dragon wall. After Princess Xu knew about it, she requested that it must be "two feet longer, two feet higher, and two inches thicker than the dragon wall in Prince Yan's Mansion." King Dai had no choice but to agree. So to date, the Nine Dragon Wall in Datong is the largest in the country, and the one in the Forbidden City is also bigger than the one in the Forbidden City. No more it.
Half a year later, the Nine Dragon Wall was completed. Outside the Duanli Gate, there are lanterns and colorful decorations, and drums and music are playing. The acting king Zhu Gui, the veteran general Xu Da and his daughter Princess Xu climbed up to the tower and leaned on the railings to watch. It was indeed tall, majestic and dazzling. The glazed tiles on the top of the wall are dazzling in the sun, and the two golden crouching dragons on the main ridge are lifelike; the nine glazed dragons on the wall are either twisting and turning, playing with the waves and playing with pearls, or holding their heads high, swallowing clouds and spitting mist; the huge Xumizuo, On the middle waist are carved lions, tigers, elephants, deer, dogs, unicorns, and pegasus. Some are galloping like flying, some are looking back, and some are walking at a leisurely pace. The images are very vivid. The entire Kowloon Wall is 45.5 meters long, 8 meters high and 2.2 meters thick.
King Lengdai was so happy that he drank heavily and cheered loudly. After a while, thick clouds gathered, the sky was gloomy, and it started to rain. The king ordered people to light candles. After a while, the red candles were burning high and the palace lanterns were all bright. Through the rain curtain, the nine dragon bathing water on the colorful wall was confusing and interesting. Hence the saying “playing with a dragon in the rain”. King Dai called out "Okay" again, and suddenly there was lightning and thunder in the sky, and three thunderbolts in succession were heard. Zhu Gui was startled and dropped the wine glass. He seemed to see two flying dragons, one black and one yellow, coming down from the sky and spitting water like springs in front of the wall. It turned out that the dragon on the dragon wall was fake, and it attracted the giant dragon in the sky to send sweet rain. After a while, a rainbow loomed in the sky, the sunset glow turned red, and the Nine Dragon Wall bathed by rain became even more colorful. On behalf of the king, he hurriedly ordered people to go and check whether there was any damage on the Dragon Wall. The people who came back reported that within three steps of Jinbocang behind the dragon wall, two wells were smashed out by thunderbolts. The water in the two wells was sweet and bitter. The current Jinbocang "Two Steps and Two Eyes Well" is also a scene on the Nine Dragon Wall. There is still a saying among the people that "three-step wells have two eyes, one is bitter and the other is sweet".
But there was a crater in front of the dragon wall, which was filled with clear water. King Dai had someone build a pool in front of the wall. The nine dragons are reflected in the water, and the wind blows and the water moves, like "a dragon swimming in the water", becoming another scene of the Nine Dragon Wall. The pool leads water from two wells into it, the sweet well for human consumption and the bitter well for healing. It is said that in the old society, water from this well was necessary to survive the "opium smoke". So some people come from thousands of miles away to get water. This pool is called the "Reflection Pool" and is the fourth scene on the Nine Dragon Wall.
