Climate in Erenhot (1)
I went to Erenhot on a business trip, a place I had never heard of before. The sign of arriving at Erlian is to see two dinosaur sculptures kissing (it is said that dinosaur fossils were found here), which is quite uncreative. We went there in the summer and the weather was very hot. We dropped off our luggage at the hotel and went to the grassland to work. It was obviously summer, but there were not many grasses on the grassland, which looked yellow. The few grasses we had occasionally were withered and yellow, lifeless, and too short of water. The earth is directly exposed to the sun and remains silent. Back at the hotel, the water in the faucet smelled like ammonia after being boiled. I couldn't drink it. The water quality was so bad that I had to order bottled water. Due to the lack of water, there are no mosquitoes here, so it’s not so difficult at last, and the Fengyoujing I brought with me is of no use at all.
We stayed until the winter work was over. This is also my first time to experience road closures due to heavy snow. I have only heard of road closures due to road construction before. It didn't snow a lot in the city, but it was just cold. As soon as we leave the city, the snow on both sides of the road can reach the calf, and gradually reaches the thighs and shoulders. The further we go, the thicker the snow becomes. Occasionally, we can see snowplows plowing snow, and occasionally we can see traffic police directing traffic. It was so difficult to walk. Our car stalled several times and we had to go down to push the cart, and we even fell down once. You can always see cars stuck in the snow on the road. A truck is the most conspicuous. There is a shovel on the truck. As soon as the truck gets stuck in the snow, the driver comes out to shovel the snow, making those drivers who can't walk envious. Walking the originally six-hour journey for a day was an unforgettable experience.
In the spring, Hao came to work in Erlian again. The whole city was gray and dusty. The cleaning lady at the hotel said that the sandstorm was more severe two days ago and the sky was yellow. It has been much better these two days, although there is always a layer of soil on the windowsill. I brought several masks and wore them interchangeably. Fortunately, the sandstorm was relatively small when I went to the grassland.
