Linnaeus' Binomial Naming System

The current system of naming creatures in Latin was put forward by Karl von Linne (usually under his pen name Linnaeus) 250 years ago. His Plant Species was published in 1735. This system is called Linnaeus binomial naming system, in which life, such as plants, is named by two Latin names. The first name stands for "genus" and the second name stands for "specific modifier". Genus names and special names combine to form species names.
