The influence of foreign culture on national culture
The first is the influence of foreign culture on social habits. The so-called social habits are the behaviors and ideological tendencies based on national culture produced by the masses in society. The influence of foreign culture on social habits has three characteristics: the first is universality, which is determined by the characteristics of social habits themselves. In the theory of public relations, there is a specific concept called fashion, that is, an unconventional behavior pattern that is popular in social life or within the public, which achieves personal satisfaction in many aspects such as body and mind, and leads to consistent behavior and mentality in society. The novelty of fashion motivation makes it most susceptible to foreign culture. This influence can be said to be huge and rapid, and it is a great change and extension of the traditional national culture itself. Around us, this influence is obvious: for example, the increase of loanwords in Chinese, the emergence of Hari Hahan clan in cities, the popularity of western fast food in China, the wedding ceremony of new people in churches and so on. Even many people in China regard Christmas, Valentine's Day and even Easter as important festivals of the year. However, this universal influence is often in opposition and dislocation with national culture. "We basically don't know the culture of this city. There is no cultural planning in urban planning, and official achievements have no cultural status. " Committee member Feng Jicai, who once wept in the old street, said at the Fifth Session of the Ninth CPPCC National Committee that there are small foreign buildings everywhere in China from south to north and from east to west, including rural areas. Many cities not only converge with each other, but also place names have become "Roman Garden", "Paris Square" and "Venice Town". On the one hand, foreign culture, with its progressive and open mind, gradually "westernized" China's social habits. Secondly, the curiosity of the public drives the trend of fashion to develop in the direction of foreign culture. The promotion and change of fashion plays an important role in the change of social habits of foreign culture to national culture. The second characteristic of the influence of foreign culture on social habits is its limitations. We have described and analyzed the dialectical relationship between foreign culture and national culture, and we know that there are many opposites and conflicts between foreign culture and national culture. Its influence on national culture is limited to extension rather than substance, and the foundation of national culture will not be shaken by foreign cultural thoughts of other nationalities unless it is subjected to naked cultural aggression and cultural extinction. The transformation of social habits by foreign culture is limited to the level of "development", that is, the influence on the basis of national culture, no matter how great, can not be separated from the national thought of national culture itself. This is also the theoretical basis of China's attitude of "incomplete westernization" in the face of the invasion of western culture. The third feature is ductility, which is actually the synthesis of the first two features. The idea of foreign culture can be widely spread among the masses, but it is restricted and transformed by national culture, which determines that it has certain extensibility. The "delay" here does not simply refer to the delay in quantity and scale, but refers to the establishment of a set of ideological basis different from the original national culture and foreign culture when social habits are influenced and changed by foreign culture. Just like cross breeding, it can produce a "new variety" within the scope of cultural thought, so that social habits can proceed from the national cultural foundation and infinitely approach the extension of foreign culture. To sum up, foreign culture has three characteristics: universality, finiteness and extensibility. Its influence is fast, wide and large-scale. At the same time, it is resisted, reformed and innovated by the national culture itself, forming a new social habit tendency with the same characteristics as the national culture.
The second is the influence on social mentality. The so-called social mentality is the objective evaluation of the overall unity of things and behaviors by the public. Different from social habits, it describes people's psychological state and embodies values and world outlook. People's adolescence is a period in which values and world outlook are formed and consolidated. Therefore, to study the influence of foreign culture on social mentality, we must focus on the influence on teenagers' mentality. Foreign culture will bring positive and negative effects to social mentality. The positive impact is manifested in many aspects. The new ideas of foreign cultures have broadened their horizons, enriched their knowledge, paid attention to scientific and advanced attitudes and practices, reformed and baptized the long-standing closed and hypocritical social mentality in national traditional culture, removed the obstacles to cultural and ideological progress and self-optimization, and pointed out the direction. The negative impact is manifested in the lack of objective judgment ability of foreign cultures. Teenagers are in the growth stage and are easy to get interested in new things. The material and immaterial cultural impacts brought by foreign cultures first hit the youth groups. Teenagers are often the most vulnerable to the interference of the objective environment, which limits their subjective initiative. Therefore, they are most likely to be misled by foreign cultures, thus catastrophically hindering and destroying the development and perfection of national culture, turning cultural integration into cultural aggression, and even threatening the political and economic foundation of China. How to correctly adjust the mentality, understand foreign culture, carry forward national culture, and guide young people to correctly face the cultural impact brought by foreign culture, Mr. Lu Xun made a profound analysis on this as early as in his masterpiece "Takenism".
