When the weather is hot, the more water you water the peppers, the more leaves will fall off. How to water peppers correctly?
The wrong watering time leads to high temperature injury of seedlings. After summer, the evaporation of water in the soil produced a heat wave. For us, the temperature in midsummer is about 38-39 degrees Celsius, and the temperature on the soil surface is much higher than this temperature. A basin of cold water flowed down and the water on the ground soon disappeared. If we water the pepper in a hurry before the ground temperature cools, it will have the opposite effect, which will make the water evaporate quickly and burn the roots, branches, flowers and fruits near the ground. Therefore, when dealing with the drought resistance of pepper, we should pay attention to the soil temperature at that time, and we need to wait until the soil surface temperature cools directly before watering. Therefore, drought resistance is generally carried out when it is getting dark. It is not advisable to flood irrigation when watering, as long as the intermittent humidity is guaranteed and the drought resistance is guaranteed once every 1-2 days. It should be noted here that frequent watering will make the soil relatively hard, and it can be combined with weeding to loosen the soil appropriately.
So how should we prevent the dead seedlings of pepper? It is necessary to choose varieties with strong heat resistance, strong disease resistance, long growth period and late maturity. Generally speaking, small fruit varieties are more resistant to heat and disease than large fruit varieties. Varieties with smaller leaves are more heat-resistant than varieties with larger leaves. Therefore, it is best to choose red pepper, line pepper or pepper varieties with smaller leaves in summer. Also, the seeds should be treated well. Soak in warm water at 55℃ 15-20 minutes, and then soak in normal temperature water for 6-8 hours. After the seeds are saturated with water, they are dried, wrapped with wet cloth to promote germination, and then 80% of the seeds are blanched and sown, which can effectively kill some germs.
Choosing drip irrigation, sprinkler irrigation and infiltration irrigation can promote the reduction of soil and air humidity, keep the soil dry and enhance the resistance of pepper root system. When the weather is hot, if the pepper is flooded, the soil moisture saturation and air permeability are poor, and the root system of pepper suffocates and dies, which will aggravate the plant aging. Strengthen field management, implement reasonable close planting in high border, drain water in time after rain, fully apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizer on the basis of loosening soil to prevent excessive humidity, avoid partial application of nitrogen fertilizer and improve plant stress resistance.
