What the Yuanmingyuan looked like before.
Yuanmingyuan, once the royal garden, was a fairyland on earth that the Qing emperor spent a lot of effort and time to build. However, Yuanmingyuan has lost its former glory and experienced a devastating disaster.
According to historical records, Yuanmingyuan was built in the18th century and lasted for more than 200 years. It is a royal garden integrating garden art and China culture. Its exquisite design, magnificent architecture and beautiful gardens are known as the "Garden of Ten Thousand Gardens".
The former Yuanmingyuan has amazing architecture and landscape. One of the most famous buildings is "Dashuifa", which is a large artificial fountain made of marble and stained glass. The fountain comes from the artificial lake in Yuanmingyuan.
However, at the end of 19, Yuanmingyuan suffered a sudden disaster. 1860, British and French troops invaded Beijing, looted treasures, cultural relics and artworks in Yuanmingyuan, and set fire to the whole garden.
Although Yuanmingyuan is no longer its glory, it is still an important historical site and patriotic education base. When visitors come here, they can feel the hard work of the Qing emperor and the cultural heritage of the Chinese nation, and they can also see the development and changes of the country from the traces of history.
