When Emperor Xianfeng first took office, he also wanted to build a rich and prosperous life, so he set up local camps in Jiangnan and Jiangbei, and also tried his best to encircle the rebels.

Moreover, when Emperor Xianfeng was in office, he vigorously rectified the decline of officialdom, decisively eliminated those corrupt officials, and even beheaded a senior official related to fraud in the examination room, and the atmosphere of officialdom changed greatly from then on. One of Zeng Guofan's aides said that during the reign of Emperor Xianfeng, he was very diligent and often approved the memorial until midnight. However, in the later period, Emperor Xianfeng's thought seems to have gone astray. He has always wanted to dig the ancestral grave of Hong Xiuquan, the leader of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom movement, to destroy the feng shui of these people, and then to defeat the enemy without fighting.

Emperor Xianfeng's reign is undoubtedly the audio-visual education bureau of Empress Dowager Cixi. During his reign, although he greatly changed the political situation of the Qing Dynasty, he was also the source of a series of palace coups. Emperor Xianfeng was like a weather vane at that time.
