Zhou Hua was born in Guangxi, a major province of calligraphy and painting. He had a talent for painting since he was a child. When he was a child, he often painted on the beach or on the ground by the river. The scenes he painted were all lifelike and pleasing to the eye, and the villagers called them " The little prodigy of painting". As I grew older, I received guidance from the wise calligraphers and painters in my hometown, and my painting skills improved greatly. I realized that paintings should not only be similar in shape, but also have charm in artistic conception. During this period, I often painted at night and at night, day after day, year after year. , and his basic painting skills were very profound during this period. While studying at the Academy of Fine Arts of Guangxi Normal University, he worked hard on the integration of traditional and modern techniques, and eventually developed a unique style. After graduating from university, he went north to Kyoto and followed the current masters of landscape painting, Long Rui and Fan Yang, etc., and made new breakthroughs in painting techniques and styles.
Zhou Hua paints on a wide range of subjects. He is good at landscapes, flowers and birds, and figures. He also paints fine brushwork, freehand brushwork, creations, and sketches wonderfully. He doesn't want to stick to the rules and likes to try various styles and painting methods.
Zhou Hua’s landscape paintings have deep traditional roots. Looking at his works, there is no lack of lushness and depth of the ancients Wu Zhen and Wang Meng, as well as the calmness and grace of Zhao Mengfu and Dong Qichang. What is valuable is that Zhou Hua can transform the ancients. His landscape painting methods are traditional, but different from those of other schools, with a distinct style of his own.
His ink landscape painting techniques are solemn and dignified, with the center of the brush strokes in place and gracefully. The dots and lines of his pen and ink are natural and free, and the strokes of the pen are circling and undulating. They not only create the image in the mind in a sincere form, but also maintain the unique aesthetic charm of the pen and ink to the maximum extent.
