Some hundred-year-old true cypress remains bonsai are the best in bonsai.

True cypress belongs to Cupressaceae, an evergreen shrub, mainly distributed in northeast China. It is a precious bonsai material in mountainous areas above 1400 meters above sea level. Strong vitality, cold-resistant, drought-resistant, barren-resistant, generally growing in cracks in stones, the soil requirements are not high. Both neutral soil and alkaline soil can grow, but fertile and loose nutrient soil is better for artificial cultivation.

1, material cultivation

The propagation and cultivation of true cypress mainly adopt cutting and layering. Select the robust branches of that year as cuttings, the length of cuttings is about 10- 15 cm, and cut off the middle branches and leaves for later use. The cultivated seedbed is mixed with humus and sand, which requires looseness, fertility and strong drainage ability. Ensure the temperature and humidity after cutting, and take root and survive after careful maintenance for 3 months. In March of the following year, the plants can be transplanted separately.

The characteristics of true cypress, crawling on the ground for a long time, will have the growth of adventitious roots, so layering method is also desirable. In addition to these two common propagation methods, grafting propagation can also be used, and Platycladus orientalis or Platycladus orientalis can be used as rootstock, and the survival rate is also very high.

You must first choose a flowerpot that matches the real cypress, starting with the material. Small and medium-sized real cypresses are suitable for making purple sand pots, and large real cypresses are generally custom flowerpots. Release the basin in spring or autumn, make a permeable layer at the bottom of the basin, plant it, compact it, water it, and serve it in the shade.

The growth characteristics of true cypress determine that its main shapes are curved trunk, cliff trunk and inclined trunk, and its trunk is mainly tortuous and changeable. Therefore, in terms of modeling, it is mainly flat and trimmed. The use of tie silk for modeling aims at stretching and bending natural and smooth lines, whether the branches are moderately bent or twisted and rotated, so as to show the elegance, simplicity and vitality of real cypress.

Xie Lidan is now the main creative means of Zhenbai bonsai. It is to imitate the real cypress in nature, which has been invaded by wind and rain, lightning, snakes, insects, rats and ants for a long time, and the branches are broken and the bark falls off. In order to achieve such a peculiar effect, when making a shape, some unnecessary branches are selected, and the bark is peeled off, and it is processed into a state of natural fracture, insect bite and mouse bite, and wind and rain damage. Then apply a mixture of lime and sulfur to prevent decay and increase face value. The relic is also called the white bone, and its position changes with the shape. It can play a role in adjusting the density of virtual reality and contrast with each other, so we should make good use of it.

4, maintenance points

When maintaining true cypress, if you want to grow well and keep the environment moist, it is best to spray water mist on the surface of true cypress frequently to keep it moist. If the air is too dry, there will often be dead bamboo shoots. Pay attention to dry thoroughly when watering, and don't let the pot soil be too wet, which will lead to stuffy roots and rotten roots.
