The origin of Kanyuology
Its origin is very old! As early as the pre-Qin Dynasty, there was the activity of Xiangzhai. In the Spring and Autumn Period, there is a record in "Shangshu": "When King Cheng was in Feng, he wanted to live in the city, so he asked Duke Zhao to live there first." In the Han Dynasty, Sima Qian's "Historical Records of the Japanese" also recorded that "When Emperor Xiaowu gathered to occupy the family, he asked whether a certain day was suitable?... The family members said it was not possible." During the reign of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, the Kanyu family was a branch of Alchemy. They often participated in consultations on national affairs and were valued by the state power for a time. In the Ming Dynasty, Liu Ji, a great military strategist and a famous Kanyu writer, visited the Lantau Island area during a trip to the south. He once said: "Lantau Island is amazing. It will definitely be the richest in the world in the future! (Lantau Island, That is the second largest island in Hong Kong)” Now the facts have proved his conclusion. While we are impressed by his superb Kanyu attainments, we also have to marvel at the wonder of Kanyu scholarship!
The original meaning of Kan is convex ground. "Shuowen*Tubu": "Kan, the ground is protruding." Duan Yucai's note: "The person with the protruding ground is called Kan." The extended meaning of "Kan" is "youtian"; "competent" is also connected with the word "kan" for survey.
The original meaning of Yu is carriage
So what is Kanyu? "Huainanzi" contains: "Kan means the way of heaven; Yu means the way of earth." Kan refers to heaven, Yu refers to earth, and Kanyu science refers to the study of heaven and earth. It is based on the Hetu and Luoshu, combined with the eight trigrams and nine stars and the restraint of yin and yang and the five elements. It completely combines the movement of heaven, the circulation of earth's air, and the human beings among them, forming a special theoretical system to infer or Change people's good and bad luck, longevity and poverty. Therefore, Kanyu (Feng Shui) is closely related to people's destiny.
From the reason why it is called Feng Shui, we can see the importance of Feng and Shui in the entire academic theory of Feng Shui. In fact, the fundamental purpose of studying wind and water is to study "qi". "Huangdi Neijing" says: "Qi is the foundation of human beings; home is the hub of yin and yang, and the pattern of human relations. If you follow it, you will prosper, if you go against it, you will not." "The Book of Changes" says: "The stars drive the weather, and the mountains and rivers drive it. The air of the earth is yang, the air of the earth is yin, the yin and yang are in harmony, the heaven and the earth are dense, and everything grows." Therefore, we can see the importance of qi to people. But why study Feng Shui? In fact, Qi and Feng Shui are inextricably linked. It is recorded in ancient books: Qi will disperse when riding on the wind, and stop when bounded by water. The ancients said that when people gather, they will not disperse, and when they move, they will stop. Therefore, it is called Feng Shui. He also said: "If there is no water, the wind will come and the air will disperse; if there is water, the air will stop and the wind will disappear. Therefore, the two words Feng Shui are the most important in earth science. Among them, the place with water is the best, and the place where the wind is stored is the second. "The Water Dragon Sutra also says, "When water flies away, the vitality disperses, and when water melts and pours, the internal energy gathers," "Look at the water before looking at the mountains. If there are mountains but no water, don't look for the ground." etc., all explain the relationship between wind and water. importance. In real life, from a macro perspective, places close to water develop faster than places not close to water. For example, in the middle of the 20th century, when the Asian economy was generally in recession, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, and Singapore took the lead. In the 1960s and 1970s, their economies grew rapidly, and they suddenly became the vanguard of the Asian economy, bringing great benefits to the entire economy. The Asian economy has brought new vitality and attracted the attention of the world. It is known as the Four Asian Tigers. However, when you study them, you find that they are in different locations, have different languages and cultures, and have different economic systems, but they have one amazing thing in common, that is, they are all around the sea. This reality coincides with Feng Shui theory. Nowadays, in my country, where the economy is developing rapidly, coastal areas are developing more rapidly than inland areas. Of course there are many more examples like this. These fully illustrate the authenticity and effectiveness of Feng Shui theory.
Since ancient times, there have been numerous writings in the field of Feng Shui, and there are hundreds of schools of thought contending, and there are many factions, but the mainstream is nothing more than the two schools of situation and rationality. The Situation School focuses on the combination of mountain directions, while the Liqi School focuses on the principle of fortune and restraint. Although each has its own strengths, when it rises to a certain level, the results and effects are the same. It can be said that they reach the same goal through different paths.
Today's Feng Shui sects are no more than Bazhai, Xuankong, Yang Gong Feng Shui and Guolu Yin Yang. Of course there are other sects, but they have not been established for a long time, or are branches of the above four sects.
1. The Bazhai School was founded by Yi Xing, a famous monk in the Tang Dynasty. He was proficient in calendars and astronomy and wrote the Dayan Calendar. The core of its theory is based on the Bagua set of nine stars and eight houses, combined with the fleeting movement of the nine palace flying stars, dividing people into East four and West four lives, and incorporating them into the entire Feng Shui system, truly realizing the heaven (nine stars) and earth (Bagua) The perfect state of integration of the three persons (nine palaces) is the most direct manifestation of the Hetu and Luoshu. 2. Xuankong School This school is also a major sect in today's Feng Shui world, with "Shen's Xuankong School" as the top one. He was in charge of Lingtai geography at that time, and combined it on the basis of Kanyu's strange book "Forbidden Jade Letter" Personal practice and creation of Yang School Feng Shui. Its theoretical basis is divided into five categories, namely "dragon, sand, water, direction, and acupoint", that is, "looking for the dragon, looking for water, observing the sand, standing in the direction, and fixing the acupoint." Due to its immediate effectiveness, it became popular all over the country for a long period of time, until today. Yang Gong's representative works include "The Sutra of Suspicious Dragons", "The Sutra of Shaking the Dragon", "The Twelve Rods of Burial Techniques", "Qingnang Aoyu", etc. Yang Gong's Feng Shui couplet: natural landscapes are good for Feng Shui, heaven and earth, heaven and earth, good clouds and sky; horizontal batch: wind and water rise. According to the records of Master Yang Junsong, posting this couplet on the door is good for Feng Shui.
