The weather is getting colder. Why do shrimps go to deep water?

There are two main reasons why shrimp go to deep water in cold weather: temperature and food.

First of all, shrimp is a cold-blooded animal, and its activities and physiological processes will be affected by the surrounding environment, especially the temperature. When the weather gets cold and the water temperature drops, shrimp will actively migrate to the deep water area with stable water temperature in order to adapt to the temperature change. Secondly, shrimp is a benthic organism, mainly feeding on benthos and plankton. In deep water, benthos are relatively rich, such as algae and small crustaceans, which are important food sources for shrimp. When the water temperature drops, the benthos in shallow water may decrease or leave, and shrimp will choose to migrate to deep water in order to find more food resources.
