How to grow grapes in summer

In summer, green cuttings were made from lignified or semi-lignified grape shoots, and the cuttings could leave the nursery after falling leaves in autumn that year, which greatly shortened the seedling raising period. Green cutting has high survival rate and good quality, and is widely used in grape seedling production.

1. Cutting time. It can be done in June-August, and it is best to cut it in summer. When the new shoots grow to 5 ~ 10 knots, and the semi-lignification has a certain hardness and maturity, cutting is carried out.

2. Yellowing treatment. Three weeks before cutting, wrap the new shoots on the tree with black cloth and thick paper. And turn yellow, which can effectively prevent the direct sunlight from shining on the green branches and is beneficial to the differentiation and rooting of roots.

3. Prepare to insert the bed. Choose loose and fertile sandy loam or light clay loam plots to raise seedlings, and build a transplanting bed with a width of1~1.2m. The seedbed requires good lighting conditions and convenient irrigation and drainage.

4. Prune with leaves. Cut the cuttings into small pieces with the length of 1 .5 ~ 20cm, the lower cut is slightly inclined, and the upper cut is higher than the upper bud1cm. Remove the lower leaves to facilitate the cuttings to contact with the soil, leaving the upper 1 ~ 2 leaves. In order to reduce transpiration, if the leaves are large, you can cut a piece from each leaf. Insert the cuttings into the whole seedbed according to the row spacing of 10× 15 cm.

5. Management after insertion. After insertion, water should be poured enough to make the cuttings fully contact with the soil. Build a shade with a height of 0.8 ~ 1 m and the same width as the border, and then remove it after the cuttings survive.
