China Naming Network - Eight-character Q&A - Ancient city Yumenguan

Ancient city Yumenguan

In the afternoon, under the scorching sun, we came to this vast Gobi and went to the Millennium ancient city. It was very hot on the way to Yumenguan, but it didn't affect our mood to visit Yumenguan at all.

Yumenguan belongs to the ancient Silk Road. At the westernmost point, Yumenguan was particularly prosperous at that time, but because of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the Silk Road gradually fell out of use. So this once prosperous pass became a desolate place, and now what we see is an ancient city wall standing alone in the vast desert. Look at its inner wall, dense. Coming to the grass shop seems to be full of history.

Besides this small city gate, we took another flight of stairs. Climbing to the rooftop, you can see the West Lake in Dunhuang looming among the dense reeds, which is very beautiful. From a distance, the mountains in the distance seem to be looming. Seeing such scenery near the ancient city makes me unforgettable.

In the scorching sun and hot climate, we left this historic city.
