In the early 1920s, international university organizations at that time began to plan and hold the World Universiade. 1923 in may, the world university sports conference was held in Paris, and the conference decided to hold the first international university games the following year. 1924, the first international Universiade was held in Warsaw, with three events: track and field, swimming and fencing. Since then, the sports meeting has been held irregularly, and it was held for 8 times in 1939 * * *. Later, due to the interruption of the World War II Games, 1947 resumed. However, since 195 1, due to the changes in the international situation, it has been divided into two sports meetings, one in the west is called "International Student Games" and the other in the east is called "Youth Student Games" or "Youth Goodwill Games". These two camps organize and hold their own university sports meeting.

In the early 1920s, 1924 Warsaw Universiade site.

Our international university organization has begun to plan to hold the World University Games. 1923 in may, the world university sports conference was held in Paris, and the conference decided to hold the first international university games the following year. 1924, the first international Universiade was held in Warsaw, with three events: track and field, swimming and fencing. These two camps organize and hold their own university sports meeting. 1957, in order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the French National Union of Students, the International Universiade and the International Cultural Festival were held in Paris. With the unanimous consent of the representatives of 30 countries attending the meeting, it is decided to hold a world-wide college sports competition on a regular basis in the future, named "World University Games", which will be held every two years in principle.

First opening ceremony

From 65438 to 0959, the first World Universiade was held in Turin, Italy, with 985 athletes from 45 countries participating. Since then, it has been held every two years. By 1999, the Universiade has been held for 20 times. Emblems of previous Universiade

Generally, the Universiade will include nine officially stipulated events, including track and field, swimming, diving, water polo, gymnastics, fencing, tennis, basketball and volleyball, but the host country has the right to add 1 event. For example, the host country Bulgaria 1977 increased wrestling, Mexico 1979 increased football and Japan 1985 increased judo.

A brief history of development

1960, the Universiade was held in Chamonix, France, imitating the Olympic system. At first, the Summer Olympic Games and the Winter Olympic Games were held in odd years and even years respectively. From 198 1, held in the same year. Up to 1999, the Universiade has been held for 19, and the competition events include speed skating, short track speed skating, figure skating, alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, platform skiing, biathlon, ice hockey, nordic combined and skateboarding.

China entered the competition.

China participated in some track and field events of the first Universiade from 65438 to 0959. From the second session to the eighth session 196 1, China did not send a delegation to participate. From 65438 to 0975, China was accepted as a full member of the International University Sports Federation. From the 9th session of 1977, China sent a delegation to participate in all previous World University Games.

National response measures

Since the Universiade is a large-scale comprehensive sports meeting in the world, second only to the Olympic Games, since the first competition was held in 1959, all countries in the world have attached great importance to it and sent the best athletes to participate. Since 1960s, * * * has broken 65,438+08 world records in track and field and swimming at previous Summer Universiade (see below).

Athletes experience China culture in the Universiade Village.

The Universiade did not break a world record, but set a Universiade record of 10. The reason may be that since the mid-1980s, competitive sports have been strongly impacted by the wave of professionalization and commercialization, and some top athletes have not participated in the Universiade without appearance fees. However, according to a statistical data 1999 published in the first month, the Universiade since the 1990s is still at a fairly high level, just as many Olympic stars emerged for the first time in the Universiade from the 1960s to the 1980s, many athletes who won medals in the Olympic Games today are still excellent athletes who participated in the Universiade. In the192 Barcelona Olympic Games and196 Atlanta Olympic Games, outstanding college students who "hung gold and silver" won 80 gold medals, 84 silver medals and 62 bronze medals in the competitions organized by the International University Sports Federation (see the table below). Among these athletes who stepped onto the Olympic podium from the Universiade, michael johnson and mike powell are famous. Basketball players larry bird, charles barkley and arvydas sabonis, cyclist Jenny Longo, fencer giovanna trillini, gymnast Xiong Wei Sachl Bo, etc. Countdown board for Shenzhen Universiade

Facing the comments of the news media, the International University Sports Federation denied that the level of the Universiade was gradually declining, but how to attract top athletes through reasonable commercial operation and improve the appreciation and overall sports level of the Universiade is indeed the key to continue to run the Universiade well in the 2 1 century.

Session 2 1

2 1 Universiade goes down in history with a series of new records. This is Beijing's warm embrace of the world, Beijing's concentrated display of the world, and Beijing's powerful proof of the world ... China sports delegation ranked first with 54 gold, 25 silver and 24 bronze, the United States ranked second with 2 1 gold 13 silver 13 bronze, and the Russian team ranked second with 14 gold and 64 bronze.

Twenty-second session

The 22nd Universiade ended in Daegu World Cup Stadium in 2003. China sports delegation ranked first with 4 1 gold 27 silver 13 bronze, and won the gold medal again after the last Beijing Universiade. Russia ranked second in the gold medal list with 26 gold, 22 silver and 34 bronze, while South Korea ranked third with 26 gold 1 silver 15 bronze. Publicity board for Shenzhen Universiade

Russia ranked first in the gold medal list with 26 gold 16 silver and 23 copper, and Japan ranked third with 18 gold 18 silver and 20 copper.

Twenty-fourth session

The 24th Universiade was held in Hua Mu National Sports Center in Bangkok, Thailand on August 8th, 2007, which is also an important day for the countdown to the Beijing Olympic Games. When the China delegation entered the opening ceremony, a huge banner "Welcome to Beijing-August 8th, 2008" (English meaning "Welcome to Beijing on August 8th, 2008") attracted people's attention. China university students sent an invitation to the world to participate in the Bangkok Olympic Games. This is the Universiade with China as the lead singer. The China team, whose average age is less than 22, is composed of college students. With an impressive record of 33 golds, 30 silvers and 27 bronzes, it ranks first in the gold medal list of the Universiade, greatly surpassing the previous gold medal count of 2 1, and has written a wonderful chapter related to youth and accompanied by honor. Russia and Ukraine ranked second and third with 29 gold, 26 silver, 38 copper and 27 gold, 22 silver 17 copper respectively, and the host team Thailand ranked sixth with 15 gold.
