Does the cold weather affect pigeons?

Negative effects of cold weather on pigeons. Cold weather can make pigeons fat. In the cold season, pigeons need more energy to maintain their metabolism than in the warm season, thus resisting the cold. In order to get enough energy, pigeons will unconsciously increase their food intake. Friends who have experience in raising pigeons should find that pigeons eat more in winter than in other seasons. This leads to pigeon obesity.
Overweight pigeons (mainly female pigeons) will affect egg laying in spring. Because there is thick grease in the egg stall of obese female pigeons, the accumulation of this grease will lead to inflammation of the reproductive system of female pigeons and affect spring reproduction.

Cold weather easily causes pigeons to get sick. In the cold winter, pigeons are prone to diseases mainly from three aspects, as follows:
(1) Piggery is easy to get wet and breed germs. In winter, the air ventilation in the pigeon house is small, and the water evaporates slowly. When the hot air in the pigeon house comes into contact with the cold wall or roof, it will condense into a large number of water droplets, resulting in humidity in the pigeon house, which creates conditions for the reproduction of germs and parasites. Pigeons will inevitably get sick under such environmental conditions for a long time.
(2) The cold weather reduces the amount of exercise of pigeons. Exercise makes people healthy and can improve their ability to resist diseases. So do pigeons. In the warm season, pigeons like to exercise, soar in the blue sky, exercise and enhance their disease resistance. However, the cold in winter urges pigeons to reduce their exercise, which will inevitably lead to a decline in immunity and an increase in the probability of illness.
Pigeons are directly blown by cold and are prone to illness. In winter, if the cold wind blows directly on pigeons or into pigeon coops, pigeons will catch a cold for a long time, and weak pigeons are more likely to die directly. Cold air blowing into the pigeon house can lead to a sharp change in the internal temperature of the pigeon house, leading to pigeon dysfunction. Some pigeons with weak constitution and poor resistance will have symptoms such as red nose and watery stool.
