The Hoh Xil Nature Reserve was established with the approval of the provincial government in 1995. It is the largest wildlife nature reserve in Qinghai Province, with a total area of 4.5 million hectares. Located in Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, there are many kinds of protected animals and a large population. There are 46 species of protected animals, of which 18 species are endemic to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Kekexili Mountain belongs to the south branch of Kunlun Mountain System. Located in the southwest of Qinghai Province, northeast of Xizang Autonomous Region, south of Lianhu Lake, Ma Yin Lake and Hoh Xil Lake, and north of Yonghong Lake, Xijin Wulan Lake and Yi Shan Lake. The plants here are mainly alpine cushion plants dominated by Stipa purpurea. In addition, there are more than 250 kinds of higher plants such as snow ganoderma lucidum and rhodiola sachalinensis. Tibetan antelope is the most distinctive animal in Hoh Xil area. Among them, male sheep mostly appear near Xijin Wulan Lake, and female sheep are mostly distributed in the area north of Xijin Wulan Lake. In addition, Tibetan wild donkeys, wild yaks, white-lipped deer, snow leopards and other national first-class protected animals have also settled here.
