No matter how hot it is, why don’t you sweat?
In addition to the mucous membranes, normal human body has sweat glands distributed all over the body. There are two ways of sweating, overt sweating and non-overt sweating. Below 30 degrees Celsius, no sweat beads can be seen, but the body Sweat is always evaporating from the surface, which is called non-overt sweating. Unknowingly, people evaporate an average of 600 ml of sweat a day. Generally, when the temperature exceeds 30 degrees Celsius, people start to sweat. This is overt sweating. Sweating takes away heat from the body surface through the evaporation of sweat, keeping the body temperature constant. 1. The principle of sweating and not sweating: "You will sweat when the weather is hot, but you will not sweat when it is cold." This is the most common feeling of people; "If you don't sweat when the weather is hot, you will sweat if you don't exercise when it is cold." Sweating is an abnormal phenomenon. "In daily life, the skin actually secretes sweat through sweat glands every day. However, when the temperature is low, the sweat beads secreted by the sweat glands are not only too small, but also are absorbed as soon as they emerge from the epidermis. Evaporation is called "invisible sweating" in medicine, so why do people sweat? From a physiological point of view, in addition to dissipating heat, it also has other important functions: for example ① Sweat can maintain the physiological balance of water supply and volatilization , prevent the cuticle from drying out. ② Sweat has an acidifying effect on the skin surface to prevent microbial invasion. ③ Sweat and sebum emulsify each other and form a lipid film on the skin surface, which has the function of protecting the skin. In addition, it is also related to the metabolism of electrolytes, mucopolysaccharides, hormones, etc. Therefore, patients with anhidrosis should seek medical treatment as soon as possible, and comprehensive treatment can be used to relieve the patient's pain. 2. Reasons for not sweating: People often have the same feeling. When encountering strong stimulation from the outside world, they will find that they are "scared out in a sweat". In fact, this is a normal reaction. It is due to the increase in nerve impulses caused by mental stimulation and the release of acetylcholine. The amount of secretion increases, resulting in excessive sweating. But some people are "shocked and have no sweat". Why is this? A little or no sweat on the surface of the skin can be caused by abnormalities in the sweat glands themselves or a certain level of abnormality in the nerve pathways. When a person sweats, you can see obvious sweat beads, and everyone thinks he is sweating a lot; some people are like winter swimmers, and everyone cannot see them sweating, but they can clearly see the heat coming out of their bodies; in addition, Some people have more fluids and sweat more; some people have less fluids and sweat less. The amount of sweat during exercise is also related to drinking water. If you drink a lot of water before exercise, the amount of sweat will increase due to the increase in body fluids. For exercise, when doing the same amount of exercise, the person who sweats less should have better physical fitness, because his body's self-regulation ability is stronger. "If you are in a normal environment, not sweating is completely normal, which means you are in good health. On the contrary, some people sweat easily after a little exercise, which means it is a symptom of a disease. If you feel hot and don't sweat , that is a problem with sweat glands (congenital or acquired). In this case, it is best to go to the hospital for examination to find out the reasons for not sweating. The main causes of non-sweating are as follows: (1) Congenital sweat gland dysplasia or Lack of sweat glands can manifest as generalized or localized anhidrosis (2) Certain skin diseases, such as severe ichthyosis, scleroderma, leprosy, radiation dermatitis, skin atrophy, etc., can cause localized anhidrosis. 3) Nerve injuries, such as transverse myelitis, poliomyelitis, paraplegia, and local damage to the sympathetic nerve, medulla oblongata, and pons, can cause generalized or localized anhidrosis (4) Certain visceral diseases, such as diabetes, Diabetes insipidus, chronic nephritis, myxedema, malignant tumors, etc. In addition, vitamin A deficiency, etc. can also cause systemic anhidrosis. 2. Treatment of anhidrosis: Clinical treatment of anhidrosis due to congenital sweat gland dysplasia. Unless there is no cure, if the anhidrosis is caused by other diseases, the primary disease (the disease causing anhidrosis) should be actively treated. General anhidrosis cannot regulate body temperature in summer, and those who are extremely unwell can move to low-temperature areas in addition to treatment. Or adopt artificial cooling, such as installing air conditioners indoors. 3. Traditional Chinese Medicine’s understanding and treatment of anhidrosis: 1. Kidney yang deficiency: If you don’t sweat, your hands and feet will easily become cold. No matter how much you exercise, you won’t sweat. Being afraid of the cold is a sign of weak body energy. Most of the manifestations are kidney yang deficiency. If yang qi is deficient, the qi cannot flow to the blood, so the blood cannot reach the end of the blood vessels, namely the hands and feet, so there will be coldness. 2. Kidney yin deficiency: No sweating all over the body under any circumstances. Only symptoms include fever in the palms and soles, slight sweating, weight loss, hot flashes, dysphoria, dry throat, red cheeks, etc. (1) Internal treatment: ① Deficiency of Yin fluid: It is more common in congenital deficiencies, or Yin damage due to febrile disease, and difficulty in midsummer.
