Is Dou Erdun the Blue Face in History?
Dou Erdun (1683~ 17 17), a native of xian county, Hebei Province, was originally named Dou Kaishan, and his real name was Erdong. He has the eldest brother in the world, ranking second, and looks like a tiger, so he is also called Dou Erdun. He was born in poverty, and his father Dou Zhizhong was a general under Li Zicheng, a peasant uprising army in the late Ming Dynasty (A.D. 1368- 1644). He is a hero in chivalrous case-solving novels in Qing Dynasty, such as Stone Case, Gong Peng Case, Stealing the Imperial Horse and Beijing Opera Comics. Finally, he was executed by the Qing government.
Dou Erdun is not recorded in official history books of Qing Dynasty, such as Draft of Qing History and Records of Qing Dynasty, but is recorded in historical materials of Ming and Qing Dynasties, Historical Records of Aihui Ancient City and Records of xian county of the Institute of History and Linguistics of Academia Sinica of the National Government.
