Why do Beijingers like the east and the north?

It is said that Beijing's feng shui is good in the north and good in the east.

Dongcheng, Xicheng, Chongwen and Xuanwu, four old cities, have the saying that the east is expensive and the west is rich. Both the east and the west are in the north.
