How cold is Beijing in winter?
In the coldest winter in Beijing, the temperature at night is more than ten degrees below zero.
The winter climate in Beijing is indeed very cold. Beijing has a typical north temperate zone semi-humid continental monsoon climate, with hot and rainy summers, cold and dry winters, and short spring and autumn. Winter starts in November and lasts until March before it starts to warm up. The coldest months in Beijing are usually December to February. January is the coldest month in Beijing. The average temperature during the day is around 3℃, while the average temperature at night is around -6℃. During the coldest period of winter, there are usually "three-nine" and "four-nine" cold weather, which often occur in January. The lowest temperature sometimes reaches more than minus 20 degrees Celsius, but currently the coldest time is generally only more than minus 10 degrees Celsius, and this extremely cold weather only lasts for a few days. Beijing is often accompanied by north winds of level 7 or 8 in winter, which increases the cold feeling. Such climate conditions are really not suitable for working outside at night, but fortunately we don’t have to face such a situation.
