What tree can be grafted with pepper?
First, the preparation before grafting
1. Selection of rootstock. Select the seedlings with strong growth, disease-free and ground diameter above 0.5 cm as rootstocks. Practice has proved that the thicker the rootstock, the higher the grafting survival rate. In addition, it is necessary to wipe off the leaf thorns within 10 cm from the ground, which is convenient for operation.
2. Collection of scions. Annual branches with excellent varieties, no pests and diseases, full buds and thickness of 0.4-0.6 cm should be used as scions for cutting. After picking and removing the leaf thorns, wrap them in wet sacks and sprinkle water in time to keep them moist for later use. You can also pick it up while walking.
Second, grafting.
1. Grafting time. The best grafting time is when some rootstock leaves germinate before and after stinging (from late March to late April).
2. Grafting method. Abdominal grafting with single bud branches was mainly used. Specific operation steps: select the smooth part of the rootstock 5-6 cm from the ground, cut it down flat, slightly with xylem, about 2 cm long, leave 0.5 cm cortex, and cut off the upper cortex. Cut the scion at a 45-degree angle on the bud side, then cut a long section with a length of 2 cm on the back, cut the scion at a position 0.5 cm above the bud body with a branch scissors, take off the bud, quickly insert the bud into the incision of the rootstock, align it with the formation layer, and tie it tightly with a film.
Third, the management after grafting
Grafting buds can germinate 25-30 days after grafting. At this time, the grafting knife is used to break the film to expose the grafted bud and let it grow naturally, and then the grafted bud is cut with an anvil for 2-3 times above 1 cm. Other management also includes germination, weeding, fertilization and pest control. You can leave the nursery and plant in the autumn of that year. Seedling management after planting: planting is the key, and the survival rate of planting is the highest when the bud just begins to germinate. After planting, water, topdressing 2-3 times during the growing period, and watering in combination during drought.
