The legend of Liutang River in Liutang River
One of the legends of Liutang River
During the Chongzhen period of the Ming Dynasty, there were frequent floods in the Suqian area. Because the rivers have been in disrepair for many years, the water system is disordered and no one cares about it, and water will cause disasters. Therefore, Suqian is famous as a "flood corridor" in history.
There is a popular saying among the people: "If you wear a hat in Yimeng Mountain, the flood is coming." This means that as long as there are clouds and rain in Yimeng Mountain, there will be floods in Suqian.
Yimeng Mountain in Shandong is upstream of Suqian. All its rainwater pours into Luoma Lake. Every time the floods destroy the lake embankments, overflow the Grand Canal, merge into the Yellow River, and flow eastward into the sea. At that time, as soon as the people heard that the flood was coming, they ran around like souls, taking their children with them, supporting the old and the young, fleeing to beg for food, and leaving their homes. Thousands of ordinary people drowned and starved to death, and the number is countless.
In order to appease the people, the emperor sent a minister from the court to Suqian to inspect. The minister climbed to the top of Maling Mountain and took a look. He saw the waves of Luoma Lake were surging into the sky and connected with the canal. It was so white that it could not be seen to the edge. He thought that to control floods, we must repair levees, dredge river channels, or dig new rivers.
The terrain of Suqian is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. Maling Mountain lies across the shore of Luoma Lake, forming a natural barrier that just blocks the lake water. In order to release the lake water, we must dig mountains and create rivers, but this is not easy. Courtiers and Suqian local officials spent several days wandering around Maling Mountain and Luoma Lake. I didn't realize why.
On this day, the courtiers came to the top of Maling Mountain again to wander and look into the distance. Suddenly they found a small hill beside the lake. There was a dense black pine forest on the hill, which was extraordinary. He took a closer look at the mountain ridge occupied by the pine forest. It looked like a phoenix spreading its wings and about to fly, with its head facing the water of Luoma Lake and straddling the mountain ridge. The courtiers secretly praised it in their hearts, this is a treasure land!
He asked the county magistrate: "Where is that?"
The county magistrate replied: "The name of this place is Fenghuang Dun, and the pine forest is Fenghuang Forest. The ancestral grave of the official Lu family."
The courtier felt a little nervous when he heard this, and asked again: "Is it the current Lu Yushi?"
The county official replied: "That's right. yes".
The courtier said nothing and turned back to his residence. I thought to myself, Lu Yushi had been at odds with me for a long time in the court, why not take this opportunity to destroy his family's feng shui and vent my personal hatred! So, he wrote a memorial all night and told the emperor that he decided to cut off the Maling Ridge from Fenghuang Dun and divert the water eastward to relieve the flood damage. Long live the music. The court officials then ordered the county magistrate to lead the people to open the river at Fenghuang Dun Qiling within a time limit.
Unexpectedly, the start of the expedition was unfavorable. The mountains were cut and compounded, and the rivers were dug and swollen. The villagers worked hard during the day and could not dig more than a few feet. After one night, the land returned to its original shape and became solid. For several days in a row, I dug up and down, but to no avail.
The county official reported it to the court officials, and the court officials came to the site to supervise the work. It is still the same. What is going on? The courtiers were so anxious that they frowned and were at a loss.
At this time, people among the people were talking about the legend: "Phoenix Dun is the place where the Phoenix lives. The Lu family should give three buckets and three promotions to Sesame Official. The feng shui cannot be broken!" "The Phoenix will not fall into a land without treasures. If you want to open a river here, even Phoenix won't agree!" Wait.
One night, the courtier tossed and turned and couldn't sleep, so he got up and walked outside. As the night became quieter, he came to the foot of the mountain and suddenly heard two old men talking quietly on the top of the mountain.
One of them said: "This mountain is a geomantic treasure land. It is really wishful thinking to build a river here."
The other said: "It is not difficult to build a river here. You must use dry firewood, sprinkle with pepper, and burn it for seventy-seventy-nine days before it can be done!"
"But how do they, mortals, know this?"
The following! There was another conversation, but the courtiers did not hear it clearly because it was blown by the wind
It turned out that the two people speaking were not mortals, but Grandpa and Grandma, the mountain gods of Maling Mountain. The two mountain gods came here by chance while patrolling the mountain. , It was a casual chat, but unexpectedly the courtiers listened to it.
Although the courtiers were dubious about the mountain god's drama, they still sent people to find dry firewood and pepper noodles. Sure enough, in the pond burned by the fire, they saw water seeping out from the cracks in the earth and rocks. Yin Yin Honghuo, it is said that this is the blood shed by the Phoenix after being burned.
When the news reached the capital, Mr. Lu heard that the feng shui of his ancestral tombs had been destroyed, and he rushed back to his hometown in person. He saw that the newly opened river channel was indeed beneficial to the people. Instead of blaming the courtier, he greatly He praised him for his great contribution in benefiting the people of Suqian and avoiding flood damage, and donated part of his silver to the people in his hometown to show his support for the excavation of the new river.
The common people were deeply moved by Mr. Lu’s tolerance and generosity, and it became a legend for a while. In order to commemorate him, the people of Suqian named this newly opened river "Lutang River", which is now in the north of Suqian City. The Lutang River, which originates from Luoma Lake, flows through Suqian, Siyang, Lianshui, Guannan and into the East China Sea, is also called Liutang River.
Legend of Liutang River 2
I don’t know if it’s the Year of the Donkey or the Year of the Horse. There is a family living in the west of the city. years old, with a teenage boy.
One day, this Taoist woman was steaming sugar buns and burning an earthen pot. The grass in the pot was gone. So she went to the haystack in front of the door and hugged the grass. She saw a big osprey with its eyes closed and stretched out. One leg slept on the haystack and basked in the sun. By chance, there was a dung scoop leaning against the haystack. She picked up the dung scoop and took a look at it, killing the osprey in one blow. She took the osprey home, and when her children made a fuss about cooking the osprey, she stuffed the osprey into the bottom of the pot. After a while, she heard many people shouting in the pot hall: "Oh, it's suffocating!" After hearing this, she dragged the osprey out of the bottom of the pot and heard the shouts again in the bird's belly. She quickly took a knife and cut open the bird's belly, and pulled out a big fish from the bird's belly. Listening again, the shouting was still in the fish's belly. She then cut open the belly of the fish with a knife, and about thirty people came out of the fish's belly. Finally, a big boat was pulled out from the fish's belly. It turned out that these thirty people were fishing in the sea in a big boat, and the boat was swallowed by a big fish like a hill. Later, they heard an osprey scream in the sky, and they felt that they were caught in the osprey's mouth. Later, I don’t know what happened.
The thirty or so people were all hungry at this time. The Taoist woman asked them to enjoy the shade under the big tree first. After she steamed the sugar buns, she asked them to eat together. After a pack of cigarettes, the sugar buns were steamed. More than thirty people carried a sugar bun under the big tree. They didn't have time to cut it with a knife, so they gathered around the bun and ate it with their mouths. More than thirty people were full, but they still couldn't get any candy. There were two crazy ghosts, one in the south and one in the north, pounding the buns with their fists. Unexpectedly, they made two big holes on both sides of the buns. When they pulled out their fists, the sugar water inside the buns pierced out. With this stab, A river sprouts from the ground six miles to the south, and a river sprouts from the ground six miles to the north. Later, the river in the south was called Nanliutang River, and the river in the north was called Beiliutang River. There is a lot of sand in the river in the north, so it is also called the Sand River. The water in these two rivers is sweeter than the other rivers, and the fish, shrimp, and crab meat grown in the rivers are also sweeter, tender and more delicious than those grown in other rivers.
