400,000 horses and 200,000 Japanese cars will be worth the same in ten years? No!
-Editor's note
My name is Lebo, a German car enthusiast, and I love BMW. I first owned a BMW on E46? From 3 18i, I can't forget the magical chassis texture of the old BMW for a long time, and then I stepped into the old car pit.
Classification of car players
According to my own classification, car players are mainly divided into several categories: 1, love life (station wagon players); 2. Power Party (modified player); 3. Affectionate party (old car players, and also a group of people who can repair cars best, hahaha, mainly in the direction of restoring the original flavor or moderately changing the appearance).
And I belong to the third kind, to restore the original appearance of the classic car and experience the taste of the year. This paper focuses on the common faults of the old BMW and some maintenance dry goods.
"Strange" Phenomenon in Domestic Used Car Market
Friends who have been exposed to used cars know that there is a strange phenomenon in the domestic market, that is, 400,000 German cars and more than 200,000 Japanese cars. After ten years, the second-hand salvage value can basically be equated, not to mention the equivalent Japanese car, which can be tens of thousands more expensive than the German car of the same level.
Ninth generation lancer? Evolution, preservation rate 100%+. Cars that have been sold for more than ten years have sold 600 thousand, while new cars have only more than 400 thousand.
The preservation rate of a car depends entirely on "word of mouth" (in fact, there are some emotional values of special models). Word of mouth does have some reference, but the most important thing about used cars is one car and one condition. There are no used cars that don't need to be prepared in the market (some conscience cars will help you sort them out and sell them to you, of course, the money for sorting them will also increase), just a question of how much to prepare.
The cost of sorting out German cars will not exceed tens of thousands more in Japan. As long as you take the time to sort it out, the German Department is cost-effective! Of course, using Japanese cars in the later period is really a little more worry-free than using German cars, and the money you pay is not IQ tax. After all, there is no money to spend.
Main problems of German and Japanese classic cars
The main problems of old German cars are electric leakage and minor faults of some electronic components, but they are not difficult to solve, and there are no other major mechanical problems (BMW N46 engine is a special case, so it is recommended not to touch it easily).
N46B20 engine beyond repair.
The seals and electronic components of Japanese cars are relatively stable, but even Lexus can't stand the vicissitudes of time, and the chassis can see rust (the popular point is the degradation of chassis performance).
Even Lexus can't stand the destruction of time.
And the chassis of German cars, especially BMW, whether it's a 10 car or a 20-year-old car, replacing wearing parts is not much different from a new car (after all, the concept of making cars is different, so there is no speed limit in Germany).
Inheritance of German and Japanese
In the inheritance of models, Japanese cars are not as good as German cars. In the design of car models, Japanese cars have little inheritance from generation to generation except logo (the most wonderful one is the Accord, which is ugly and beautiful).
Every German car has its own history, among which BMW has the highest iteration: angel eye headlights, kidney grille, Hoffmeister bend (the advantage of Huo's bend design is to give the back door a wide view and make the exterior look more sporty), and Bauhaus's interior design style (the essence of Bauhaus's design concept is based on practicality, so you can see that BMW's interior has not changed much for decades.
E65/66? 7 series interior
Every change of BMW model can make the previous generation a classic (the first eye-opening design of F30 will become a classic in ten years). Looking at the whole automobile industry, only Porsche 9 1 1 can make each generation a classic (after all, the founder ferdinand porsche is a designer). The strength of mature design is that it can be used for decades without being eliminated.
Cape Hoffmeister, you can pay attention to it. The rear view of the model with this design is the largest.
F3X Generation 3 Series is the first time BMW has adopted the design of open-eyed headlights, which is also the most harmonious design. The blink of an eye of other models is too mediocre, so now some new models cancel the blink design, such as the new X3 and X5.
Common faults and treatment methods of old BMW
To tell the truth, some old BMWs produced more than ten years ago did leak oil. But in fact, in automobile maintenance, the best solution is oil leakage. The following are some common problems and solutions of the old BMW.
Oil leakage: mainly concentrated in directional oil pipe, bonnet gasket, engine oil pan and gearbox oil pan.
1. Directional tubing: Just replace the tubing and bonnet gasket.
2. Engine oil pan: According to different models, some models need to remove the spars, such as my E60? 5 series.
3, gearbox oil pan: it is the best to deal with, BMW ZF gearbox filter and oil pan are integrated design, changing gearbox oil must change the oil pan, so it is easy to disassemble according to maintenance standards.
Engine oil burning: mainly concentrated in N series and M series engines. Generally, it is only necessary to replace the improved valve oil seal. Now you don't have to bother with disassembly-free tools. Volkswagen burning engine oil is a design defect. BMW only caused the oil to burn in the cylinder because of the aging of the sealing ring (Ps: In the early years, BMW purchased rubber parts that were not resistant to high temperature in order to save costs, and BMW's engine was a high-temperature machine, so the rubber hardened quickly, and there was no way to seal it after hardening).
The previous generation straight 6 self-priming N52 engine, the displacement of 3.0 is more stable than that of 2.5, and the situation of burning engine oil is also slightly.
Vanos engine: This is an important part. Compared with oil leakage, it is a probability event of valve cover position, and its function is equivalent to the combination of throttle and variable valve technology of other cars (BMW's engine is fully opened as soon as it starts, which is just a decoration. The throttle is adjusted by stepless variable valve opening, and this motor controls the valve opening, so BMW's power is faster than other cars). This kind of replacement is troublesome, and it is best to replace it when removing the valve cover. Repeated installation of sealing ring will lead to poor sealing performance.
It is this motor that drives a half-moon gear and adjusts the opening of the valve by rotating the thread on the rod.
Gearbox frustrated: ZF's gearbox is a more durable one, but the valve body (the part that controls gear shifting) is easy to be damaged after driving for several kilometers, and it is relatively simple to replace the valve body. The gearbox oil pan can be replaced directly by removing it.
Overview of old cars in Germany and Japan
Although Japanese cars are indeed more worry-free than German cars, we can think about it the other way around. In fact, the problems of German cars are only the leakage caused by the quality problems of rubber parts (Mercedes-Benz is basically the same, and the problems will be less than BMW), and there are some less important electrical faults. There is no big problem on the mechanical level.
However, Japanese cars only have the advantage of stable engine, and the invisible chassis is getting rusty. The durability and rigorous thinking about safety of German chassis are beyond the reach of Japanese cars.
Moreover, German is not without a "magic machine". Mercedes-Benz M272 engine is called Germany 3GR (engine of Toyota Crown) and BMW N54 engine is also called Germany 2JZ (engine of Toyota Bull). Not all Japanese are "magic machines". For example, in the early years, Toyota Crown burned more engine oil than Volkswagen, and Nissan Sylphy also burned engine oil. Honda's dream of the earth also had problems of carbon deposition and increased engine oil.
Mercedes-Benz M272 engine is well maintained and easy to run for 400,000 kilometers.
The famous value-preserving artifact BMW? 1M,m? Produced by Power Department, using N54 engine.
In my personal opinion, the Japanese concept of building a car is really just a means of transportation (except for many sports cars in the golden age, I have played Japanese cars), and Mercedes-Benz and BMW are all cars.
Differences between German and Japanese Car Owners' Groups
Personally, I think another factor that causes such market differences is the difference of car owners. People who buy BBA and Japanese cars definitely have different starting points for cars. Most Japanese car owners only need a pure means of transportation in their daily life, so they can have more time to maintain their cars.
Most owners of BBA have a prosperous business, and they don't have much time to take good care of their cars. If they have problems, they may not have time to deal with them, which will lead to small problems becoming big problems. Otherwise, why can European German cars run for decades?
My understanding of "feelings"
At the end of the article, I will talk about my understanding of the so-called "feelings". Each of us has our own emotional car, so I think this car must be the first car in your life that can bring you strong memories, and it will become your feelings in a few years.
W 140 "Tiger Head Run", the absolute mobile phone can drive this car that year.
When I was a child, I was lucky enough to come into contact with three luxury cars (not my own) on the street: W 140 (Tiger Head Run), Crown 155 (Square Box Crown) and Audi 200 (the first generation domestic A6), so these three cars all belong to my feelings.
What is your emotional car?
