The difference between 26 and 28 turtles

The difference between the 26-year-old turtle and the 28-year-old turtle is the number of blocks on the back of the turtle. Both 26 blocks and 28 blocks are Feng Shui turtles.

The turtle (scientific name: Mauremys reevesii) is a reptile of the family Chelonidae and the genus Terrapin. The head is small, less than 1/4 of the width of the carapace, the front of the head is smooth, and the skin at the back has fine granular scales; the snout is beveled inward and downward, and the horny sheath on the beak edge is thinner; the intersection angle between the left and right teeth of the mandible is less than 90 °. The carapace is relatively flat with 3 longitudinal edges, the limbs are slightly flat, and the fingers and toes are all webbed and clawed.

The tail is short and small. The carapace is brown, the plastron and nail bridge are brown, and each scute has large dark brown spots. The head is olive or dark brown; there are dull yellow lines and yellow spots on the side of the head and pharynx, extending back to the neck. The male turtle is almost entirely black and smelly, while the female turtle has a tan carapace.

Life habits

Turtles are semi-aquatic, semi-dwelling, semi-terrestrial reptiles. Mainly inhabits rivers, lakes, reservoirs, ponds and other waters. They often stay in water during the day. When the summer is hot, they flock to seek shade. They have a gentle temperament and do not bite or fight with each other. When encountering danger or being frightened, it retracts its head, limbs and tail into its shell.

Turtles are omnivores, feeding on animal insects, worms, small fish, shrimps, snails, clams, plant leaves, duckweed, melon rinds, wheat grains, rice, and weed seeds. It eats food and has a strong ability to withstand hunger. It can survive without eating for several months.

Turtles are cold-blooded animals. When the water temperature is below 10°C, they hibernate in the mud at the bottom of the water or in covered loose soil. The hibernation period generally lasts from November to April of the following year. When the water temperature rises to 15°C, they will come out of their holes for activities. Start feeding when the water temperature is 18-20°C. It is afraid of heat above 20℃ and hides in deep water and mud.

Turtles grow more slowly. Under normal conditions, the growth rate of turtles is: the first-instar turtle weighs about 15 grams, the second-instar turtle weighs 50 grams, the third-instar turtle 100 grams, the fourth-instar turtle 200 grams, the fifth-instar turtle 250-350 grams, and the sixth-instar turtle 400 grams Gram or so. Male turtles grow slowly, and the largest sexually mature individual is generally less than 750 grams.
