Will 20 14 be hot?
When El Nino broke out, the warm water below the surface of the Pacific Ocean rose and spread to the United States along the equator. In nine months or even longer, Peru and Ecuador will be hit by heavy rains and floods; Indonesia and Australia will suffer from drought. This is part of the result of the El Nino-Southern Oscillation cycle.
As we all know, it is difficult to predict whether El Nino will happen in a certain year after observing the sea surface temperature as a "spring obstacle". "Every April-May-June, the El Niñ o-Southern Oscillation will happen again more or less," said Scott Bauer of Melbourne Meteorological Bureau, Australia.
Cai Wenju of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization under the Australian National Research Bureau said: "The difficulty of monitoring is that there are too many background variables in the atmosphere and ocean, and it is difficult to monitor the real early warning signals from noise interference."
