When is the best time to travel to South Africa?
South Africa has sunshine all year round and is suitable for sightseeing in all seasons. Winter is between July and August and summer is between December and January. The general temperature is around 27.5℃ in summer and 21.0℃ in winter.
Winter (June to September) is drier and cooler, making it an ideal time for hiking and outdoor adventures. Winter is the best season to observe wildlife during this season when the jungle is less dense and thirsty animals gather around water sources just for your eyes to feast on.
Summer (late November to March) brings rain, fog, and some uncomfortably hot weather in the lowland areas. Along the coast of the Indian Ocean, the climate is sweltering and unbearably hot, a typical tropical climate with very high humidity.
Travel conditions are ideal almost everywhere in spring (mid-September-November) and autumn (April and May). Spring is the best time to visit when the vast fields of the Northern Cape region are covered with flowers.
