Collections from "Chabu City"
When I went home, I accidentally spotted a new monument in front of Qinghua's house with the words "Capturing the Port" engraved on it. Is "Capturing the Port" a mistake for "Tea Port"?
In fact, "Chabu City" is a place name with a lot of historical background.
The river that passes through Yunxi Town was called "Xinqiao River" in ancient times. The stream comes out of Wujianshan and collects thousands of trickles from west to east into Songyang Lake from "Chabu City". The mountains and hills beside the stream are rich in tea. Since the Yuan Dynasty, during the tea harvest season, merchants from other places have come ashore in droves to buy tea in Chabu City. Gradually, tea traders have gathered in Chabu City. The original nameless Chabu City became a tea port because of tea. As a city, it got the name "Chabu City". Xinqiao Creek was also given a very elegant name: Yun Creek because of the gathering of merchants. With the continuous development of the economy, it is also located at the hub of Hubei Province and Hubei. During the Tianshun reign of Emperor Yingzong of the Ming Dynasty, Yunxi Station was established here. In this sense, there was Chabu City first and then Yunxi Station.
As for the Chen family of Yimen who moved to Chabu City, it should be a connection related to tea.
In the early Ming Dynasty, tea was a state monopoly, and merchants were required to hold a "tea certificate" issued by the government before they could sell it. In order to crack down on smuggling and manage tea merchants, Zhu Yuanzhang established the "Chengling Tea Introduction Institute" in Chenglingji one year before the founding of the country (1367).
In the early years of Hongwu, Linxiang Yimen Chen's ancestor Chen Xiang (named Guijiu) moved from Fuzhou, Jiangxi to Linxiang Taolin. His third son, Chen Andeng, successively served as Chengling Tea Introduction Office and Yalan Tax Bureau. Division inspection. It was probably this experience in managing tea that made Chen Andeng fall in love with Chabu City, a geomantic treasure. The Chen family originally lived in Lucheng, the seat of Linxiang County. Later, Chen Andeng died of illness on a ship on his way to Nanjing, the capital, and was buried in Xiaogu Mountain in Poyang. His son Chen Bijian then moved his family to Chabu City, and has thrived on this land for hundreds of years. , descendants all over the country, Chen Andeng is also regarded as the ancestor of this line.
